I’ve never had it happen with mine. I don’t think any of the Texas guys that fly low have ever had a problem, at least that I’ve heard about.

No issue here, but I have only hit about 85 and I think that was on 1.05? I can go out and test 2.0?:rofl:

Would you say the coil packs from RIPP or 2.0 is a bigger improvement to your truck?

If I have 04B14 (stock) on my truck now, can I directly flash a 04B13 based tune (sid_04B13_2.0_Reg_SuperFOB for example) or do I need to roll back my stock file first? This is my first time trying to load a tune, sorry if it's a dumb question!

you cannot flash a B13 tune if on B14 and you cannot roll back. request the B14 tunepack.

    No problem.

You cannot flash 04B13 tune files to an 04B14 ECU. Also, ECU updates cannot be rolled back.

From what I have seen, you really want 04B14 as a basis for OVT. You do need the 04B14 Tune Pack. Have you unlocked an ECU in vF? If not, then request the 04B14 files from OVT.

If you unlocked 04B13, then you can trade Tune Pack files with willing folks. Just another option.

I just got the link to download tunes today, and the FM only had the options up to 04B14. I didn't do anything in vF yet - I just went ahead and emailed the OVtune guys to see if they set me up for the wrong download access or something.

You're good to go. 04B14 is the first ECU to come out after the vF launch. Any new ECUs have to be purchased with credits.

Since you're new, you can get the 04B14 files as part of your initial purchase.

oops I goofed - I mean FM only has tunes up 04B13 - that typo sort of made the rest of my message meaningless! But I did confirm in vF that I didn't unlock any ECU yet

    No worries. I understood.

Just toss in that request for the 04B14 files and you will be set.

    It's new... so nothing yet
Yes, I’m a noob. Is that word even used anymore? Basic info, went from a 2011 STi to a 2018 Taco. Looking at tuning options, and VF seems to be the only one that offers anything. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, I have a few questions and concerns. I am familiar with OpenPort, since I did a little playing around with OpenEcu on my Evo.

Let’s begin, the software and cable... it’s just that, software and cable, no maps no nothing, correct?
The tuner pack, is all the maps created for different upgrades (tire size, exhaust, intake... yada yada yada), right?
Aside from the software, cable and map pack... what do I need?

I’ve been reading as much as I can, I know there answers are here somewhere... but going through 155 pages of posts takes time. So, thank you in advance.

Correct. You need at minimum vF and the cable. vF has the stock maps which you can modify

the tune pack gives you the tunes that have been created which you can either use as is or further modify.

you’ll need a windows computer to run the software (or Mac with bootcamp)

Thank you... I guess I'll be pulling the trigger on this now. Also, anyone know the HP gains on this tune and could I take it to a tuner and get it dyno tuned? AAAANNNNDDDD does anyone know a truck tuner on the east coast? IDK if my EVO and STi Tuner will be up to the task.

I would like to adjust the throttle tables on my AT, I do not like the exponential growth nature of the throttle. It is too slow at first and then gets too fast in a hurry. But I don't think I understand the tables well enough. The ATs don't have the throttle table posted previously. I probably just need to wait patiently for the tuning webinars. But! Would anybody be able to give an explanation on what these tables do? I would like to know how requested torque is calculated, what is airload cap, and why I need a table based on engine speed and a separate table based on vehicle speed.
