vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

Not sure if it's different across ECU's but my 04B81 tune pack has 36 files.

 

you may wanna limit how far you're willing to go to please this guy cause if 04B00 (by far the shittiest tune ever made for the AT) to 04B04 2.0 was meh then I'm thinking he is expecting something out of his truck that isn't feasible.

Oh don’t get me wrong I loved the pretty picture. What I find very interesting is the ~3 discrete curves out past 30% accelerator. Thats got to be part of why this truck is unpredictable.

 

I think it is to be expected.

Consider: you are at relatively low rpm where you can produce little power and you are already at that limit (gear locked to make it easier) if you press the pedal further you are not getting any more power (air) so you will create a trace on the graph going off to the right. (Also, gear shifts take a while; so, there is some data here that shouldn't be. I also need to remember to make sure the AC is off.)

If you shift at the right time you shouldn't have this phenomenon; but as I said, shift tables are the last thing on my list. I think I can get what I need with this approach. I think I know what to do now to make the truck drive the way I want; but, I am trying to find the most efficient and reproducible way (math and science, not trial and error) to get to the end result... since I will inevitably need to change something later and have to start back at the beginning.

Thanks. I thought there had to be more files since it is called a tune pack. I only have the 04B04 2.0 final and have requested the rest of the files.

 

MT tune packs have 8 files. AT packs have an insane amount by comparison

 

Did you unzip 2.0 final? there are a ton of files all in that 1 zipped file

Thanks, I have them all now. Apparently my Winzip extractor was out of date. I downloaded the latest 7 Zip extractor and it unzipped them fine.

I remember reading somewhere I need to reset a few things after flashing? Can’t find where I read that at now. Anyone kno what I’m referring to? Like reset the LV and AT. is that just the two buttons on Toyota flash tool. After the file flashes? Before I start up? Thanks guys have a great turkeys day.

Yes, LV and AT.
After you flash and do that start up cycle. Follow the same steps as if you were going to flash again, but reset those values.

Your truck is going to drive like **** when you do that though. You'll need to take it on several hard drives running through all the shift cycles.
I think a lot of the guys that reflash regularly just ignore resetting.

 

I did a reset about a year ago and like @Stormpeacock said, it sucked. I have flashed my truck many times since then with no resets. I would skip it unless you just want a fresh start.

 

Flash your truck
Turn off
Ignition on (motor not running)
Reset lv
Reset AT (if you have automatic trans)
Ignition off
Start truck
Idle 10 minutes

 

Thanks y’all! So with @PapaRee m&w tune should I notice a difference right away? Should I run it hard or normal for that first few trips/drives?

 

@tonered I think it would be a great idea to keep a “running wish list” in the first most of your MT thread. At least give Mat some idea on what people actually want to help prioritize his efforts.

Id like to see additional ECU’s opened up to give us similar abilities to VAGCOM.

For example: Raise the speed at which the front camera/panoramic monitor activated/deactivates.

I’d also love to see rev hang and DFCO solved for good!

 

It's your truck ....... drive it anyway you choose. The tune will sort its self out over time.
