The first tune with the new gears was basically a version of MD's M+W3.1 that I'd adjusted the throttle sensitivity down for the break-in process (didn't want high tip-in for those first 500 miles), along with some small tweaks on shift points, zero changes to anything fuel-related. That was on a premium tune, for reference.
On this current iteration, I'd added back in more aggressive throttle mapping for the better drivability and response since break-in is done, plus made it get into 6th gear sooner under light&medium throttle, since 6th can handle more acceleration load now, so I wanted to get there quicker and stay there, and that's responsible for the extra 1.5mpgs.
Next version will be an 87 oct tune but still on Premium gas, so I had to start from scratch with the maps, so I loaded up a OV 2.0 tune from the tunepack and have been pulling in some stuff from M+W that I liked, and will be doing the shift points tonight from scratch and probably tomorrow I'll spend some time seeing where I think the TC settings should be (probably somewhere between 2.0 and M+W 3.1), and try it out a week or two. So to answer your original questions, any fuel trim settings will be straight from OVtune's 2.0 on this go-around. If you have any suggestions of values to tweak, I'm all ears! That's just something I haven't messed with yet.

well once I get the new ADS suspension on, I want to go find somewhere dirty and bumpy that I can go open this baby up! See what a race suspension feels like under the right conditions!

With the stop to shift in and out, I will cruise in the upper gears between tough spots. The wheeling around here is slow though. It would be fun to do some faster desert running.

Same here in Austin... I try to make it out to Tucson (my hometown) to see my folks when I can, but it's a helluva drive, which will take longer now that I can't really go 90+ lol. But there's some great stuff out there. Hopefully the guys on the local Austin TW group know some spots to hit 40+!

LOL, you've never used it because you can't. I'd like to get as much wheel speed as I can in 4 low since that's the only way to use the locker. And smoothing the shift a bit would be nice.

I've definitely done 50 in 2lo and it's not something I would do frequently or for any length of time.....

    k. here is a scenario. Entrance to freeway with immediate 3 mile very steep climb. My speed was 53-55, 4th and accel % was 30. The tranny wound not go to 5th. So I switch to S and forced to 5th. Tranny went up and down to 4th. So back to D and press the pedal more while climbing. I reached 38 on accel when the upshift happened. My speed was around 60 mph
Here is 4 to 5th upshift table. 102 kph/1.6=63.75mph , at 38%- ~62 mph and this is close to my travelling speed

I'm thinking for mud and snow. I'm after the wheel speed not actual speed (with a locker engaged). If I could get 65 @ 3500 rpm instead of 45 @ 5500 rpm, that'd be cool. @lapoltba is working on a anytime locker. Just searching for alternatives. I'm also thinking lowering the upshift speeds in just low 4, would smooth the shifts out as well.

Wheels slipping at that speed that suddenly find traction are when things go boom

Never would have guessed... I live in Northern Wisconsin. No rock crawling here. Mud and snow. Logging roads and fire roads. 1st gen held up just fine with locker anytime mod.

    I'm trying to understand...
You want to have more engine RPM per speed, or more speed per RPM?

I'm trying to imagine why you wouldn't just use 4 High

More wheel speed per rpm. There's no factory locker available in 4 high. Just spitballing. Locker anytime mod on my first gen was stupid easy. Ground the gray wire. That made the truck nearly invincible in the mud compared to no locker, or having way less wheel speed while in low 4. Although that was a manual, so I could get more out of it without bouncing off the limiter.

    @OVTune
The upshifts did align with my primary settings. What cuts out 4th and 5th? What determines the downshifts? Nowhere near my primary settings... If you do not have time to answer. That is fine. I'm just discussing. Not expecting a personal tune session.

    Ahh for the locker.
I can put it on the list to look into. But I'm certain 4Low tables are primary, and the ECU sets a bit flag where "if 4 Low, upshift request sll / slr 0xBF 0xDF etc " etc (which translates to 4th). Basically the ECU sets a bit in RAM that says "when active ignore any shift request above 4th"
it would require a custom patch.

    Gotcha.

Upshifts are spot on with primary. Downshifts are certainly coming from somewhere else. I was just trying to think of a way around needing the locker anytime mod. No biggie. Thanks for letting me know not to waste my time trying to find something that I could never currently complete. Greatly appreciated!

I'm hoping so. Been testing every moment of the day and still am right now so we can get it done by end of year.

I really wish that toyota had an "active test" for the E locker that corresponds to a PID in the ECU, I could make a patch so stupid easily
