    Here's a little bit of WTF? for you guys. Been running my own tune for the last few months. it's a compilation of all the goodness that was figured out when we first started messing with VF. been running great for me the whole time. i got 35s and 4.88s and been averaging 15.4MPG consistently tank after tank. last month iu got a hair up my ass to put my spare tires on, 285/65/18s and was looking forward to the increase in drivability and the bump in gas mileage. mounted the rims and tires and loaded up the same tune I've been running with only tire size adjusted. my MPG dropped to 13.4 for the first tank. Figuring the first tank is never quite accurate cause of the relearning I ran another tank and got 13.6. Frustrated that something is off I put the 35s and original tune back on and here i am back at 15.3 so far after 2 days. Dunno what the deal is and curious if anyone has some insight on how I lost 2MPG by going to a smaller tire with the exact same tune. Tires are both KO2s and the rims for the smaller set of tires are way lighter so I'm certain that isn't a factor. Got a Hypertech on the speedo to correct things to the correct speed so don't think that had an effect on MPG calculations. Anyone got input?

    Did you reset learning values when you switched wheels/tires?

    About to flash the first tune from the basic pack, what's the difference between 04A61_Premium_35_Thx_5.29 and the non Thx file? I'll also need to adjust tire size for my 33.8's and up the voltage for the AGM battery but that's after success running a stock tune.

    "Thx" = enhanced throttle ........

    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/tacoma-2-0-final-auto-release

    The above also describes the different file types ….. i.e. thx = enhanced throttle etc.

    nope. didn't think the tire size would have any effect on engine or trans performance. Basically my logic was that if using the exact same tune and only going to a 32 tire and changing the programming to a 32 tire, that would keep all parameters of the engine/trans exactly the same as the 35/35 combo so resetting all values wouldn't be necessary. Obviously 35s with a 35 tune is not apples to apples as 32s on a 32 tune of the exact same file.
    In hindsight I should've tried the 35 tune with the 32 tires to see if that increased my MPG but the 32s just got sold so that option is out the window
    The main reason I'm curious is because I'm quite happy with the MPG I'm getting with my tune and 35s but if i took a hit of 2MPG by just changing tire size to 32s and nothing else then what if I put that tune on someone else's truck(which I have)? He said he's enjoys a MPG bump coming from the stock tune but now I'm wondering if there is possibly another 2 MPG to be gained for him

    I don't know the answer for sure. But I suspect there is a lot going on behind the scenes with the learn values based on my experiences.

    I am guessing that your truck was still "thinking" it needed to produce the torque to spin 35s, and so was running in a less efficient state than required to spin 32s. Over time or with an LV reset, I bet you would see that mileage exceed what you were getting on 35s. We all know 32s require less energy to move, that's simple physics.

    Exhibit A why some guys see no problem with the third gen, and other guys hate it.

    I was thinking along the same lines during the first tank but after the 2nd tank (over 500 miles total) I don't see that 3-4 MPG (expected to get closer to 16-17MPG but got 13.5) difference kicking in. Granted, I have seen a lot of people say there was a huge difference after doing a AT/LV reset but again, 3-4 MPG I think is too big of a difference to be attributed to that, I think there is something else at play I just don't know what or if it's even worth me thinking about. I just wonder if my friend's truck could be getting even better MPG or not. I updated his ECU so I did the AT/LV reset anyway so everything would be speculation at this point since there's no way to test any theories out.

    Looking for the 2.0 tune for 04C20 2021. I emailed tech support after purchasing and have not got it. Could someone PM me about or send it over? I paid for the VF software and tunepack. Can prove with receipts, etc if needed.
