vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

The going rate around the country for updating the ECU, then flashing a tune is $250.
But I have seen some charging as high as $350 and as low as $150.

 

I’ve seen and heard as high as 400-500 too. I do 250 and the only other tuner here does 350. If people want DaKruiser I’m having them send 100 to @PapaRee before tuning. I personally love it just like everyone else here

 

I tune in Denver for 150.

 

Nice. I also travel the area for it. Personally with the amount of communication and time etc that it takes I feel it's a fair price, and offer free retunes or tweaks for the life of the truck. To each his own, there will always be a lower price somewhere.

 

I don't bother advertising anymore. Too much stupidity and liability.

 

Yeah, I hear that. FB is usually the worst for that. After doing this a few months I can't imagine how many people ask the most ridiculous and annoying shit to Matt lol.

 

For real though. It hurts my head.

 

most of the people I do come from FB. I’ve done close to 30 now and some of them make me shake my head.

I got one guy today who asked me a dozen questions about it. Then said, “oh wel the guy from FL is coming in a couple weekends and can do it for $125 so I’ll just let him do it since he’s cheaper”....

I hate people.

Why is the price in the range it is? Maybe it's just me, but it seems high given the process we'd use to perform the flash. I'm not trying to burst any body's bubble. Indeed, an average rate as everyone has stated makes me more inclined to offer the service locally.

 

Because the people getting flashed don't own it

 

Because if the cost of credits / licensing and time. Some people do it for like $100 but apparently their time isn’t worth much.. plus travel costs if you aren’t local

 

I do not think it is high. Think about the money, time, gas, research, laptop, etc. that you have invested into tuning your truck. If you had the chance to do it all over again for $250 and did not have to do anything, would you pay that. I think that is a great deal!!
People have 2 options--Pay $250, tune is done. Pay $800, get a laptop, spend days to get software registered, spend countless hours learning to tune your truck.
I know some people have lots of time, but some people's time is limited and valuable. I tuned a Doctor's Tacoma that I work with, and he paid me extra to drive to him because he said his time was too valuable, and he was right!

Yep. He got his after he saw mine. He had an Avalanche. I have black, he has white. We play golf together. He’s a great guy, gave me a $400 putter on my birthday and paid for golf that day. He is always helping people, at work and not at work. Just a good ole boy! Like us.

 

@OVTune - what were your thoughts on the error I received about needing more credits to unlock tune packs I’ve previously had access to?

 

That question just cost you more credits...

 

That makes sense for the MVPs like you that are putting in the work. I'm a peon who enjoys the fruits of your labors. I like the idea of having people send part of the cost to the author of the tunes. My time and energy is worth something, but I've not been in a position like this so I'm learning what that means, I guess.
