are you purposely trying to flash a stock file?

 

I just purchased VFTune Package. I received the key in email. I licensed the software and then the VIN after it came back online. I was trying to view my stock calibration to see the maps to start editing. The directions stated reading the ECU, saving to be able to open and edit.

You don't need to open the flash tool to edit. When you open vF go to File -> Open and navigate to the same location where you grabbed the stock file seen in the last image you posted. The flash manager (small computer chip icon) is not used for the purpose of opening and editing tunes.

 

OK If I go to open file from the main menu, select 04b04, it is asking me for more credits. I received 5 after registering, used 4 for licensing VIN. I thought it came with the ability to edit my stock calibration 04b04.

.5, .6, and .8 all don’t allow me to read dtc, only clear them. Is it grayed out for anyone else? Am I doing something wtong?

 

Reply to your order email and let Matt know you only got five. Should come with nine. Once you get them you will be able to edit it.

 

Matt I'm receiving the same message. Unable to prepare ecu read. I've unlocked the Vin already and need to confirm ecu id before Calibration.

 

You Dont need to read your ECU if you have a tune pack and just want to flash a file...

 

I need to confirm that the ecu is current before I flash. It's not my truck.

 

You can still do that using "prepare ECU'. I usually have to connect my phone for a hotspot when I tune people, so I just don't connect it until I've done that first. There'll be a popup saying "not connected to server" or something, but you don't really need to be until you actually hit "calibrate ECU". If the "license VIN" choice pops up, just ignore it and look past the box to see your voltage and ECU ID. Nobody has any real reason to use the feature of "Read ECU" except someone with a unique ECU ID or someone trying to diagnose their already-flashed tune.

 

I just loaded the 04C20_Reg_Stock_Thx.vft ovtune calibration on my 2021 OR and it's a beast now!!! Holy crap, shifting is so smooth and appropriate for hill/highway/stoplight, this is great. Will test out Premium tomorrow or later next week. So happy how well it works!

 

When we download a vftuner software update, it also appears to (re)load tune files. Does this mean that we are getting the latest tune files and need to reflash? If not, how do we get a tune file for our ECU that has all known "knowledge" up to date, to enjoy the benefits of what has been learned? Or do I need to request the latest tune file for my ECU ID every once in a while directly from @OVTune ?

 

It's not showing the Calibration file when I prepare ecu. The read ecu has always worked for me unless it's something new that it doesn't do what it says now.
