vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

From what I understand YES if you bought the tune pack from Mat (OVTUNE) ultimate will be included in the update. @tonered is that correct?

As far as I know, all updates are free for existing purchases. There is no timeframe given at the moment.

So if I send in my dongle and get updated and wait for the tune pack with the ultimate tune that will come for free?

Not quite. Lemme lay out the steps as I know them. But, the main take away is that you are the one that needs to stay on top of things.

-- Contact OVT to let him know that you want to get a vF License as you're an old school dongle person.
-- He will give you an address to send in the dongle. Pack it well and send along your name and other info in the package.
-- Once the dongle is received and confirmed, you will get a vF License and nine Credits along with a free Tune Pack (TP) request.
-- If you know the ECU ID that you want for the Tune Pack, you will need to ask OVT for that. As always, it is best to be on the latest ECU ID. For your 2016, that would be 04B04 (AT) or 04B14 (MT).
-- Keep an ear to the rail and when the Ultimate TPs are released, you'll have to ping OVT again for that update.

Good point! As he was on 1.01, I have to believe that he was an OG.

@fxrman . You have both a Tactrix OBD adapter and a separate encryption dongle? You need both plugged in to flash.

When ECT is used in conjunction with s mode as gear lock, it makes ECT useless in drive... Having just s mode as gear lock and just ECT as a separate throttle and shift map all together, will be awesome. Especially if it works in 2 hi, and 4 hi. Not just limited to 4low as the PDF eludes to??? What I'm most curious about other than 4lo only, is will it come preprogrammed, or do we have to program each mode ourselves...

 

I'm guessing that it will come preprogrammed in the tune pack, otherwise we will have to program each mode ourselves.

 

It will likely be similar to the cruise control maps. Basic, "default" values that we'll have to tweak if necessary.
