There are no changes to tranny functionality. It is still goes up and down like the stock one. Does not skip, does not jump a gear even under load. Only difference is timing of the shift. Same for the torque converter.

This isn't a government contract or enterprise software product. It is unreasonable for you to expect to be able to audit the software let alone get extremely technical about the methods used to gain access to or modify the stock code.

VFtune is intended for professional auto tuners (aftermarket, not OEM) and individuals. There is a lot of IP to be protected as there are several competitors that would be delighted to have the information you are asking for. When any information on how the new transmission code works is available, it will be released to the extent Mat (OVTune) wants. My understanding is that the transmission code has not been modified from stock in the current 2.0 tunes.

If you don't like it, you are welcome to use another product or develop your own.

If you're in 5th gear and you hit the gas enough that IF you had been in 4th gear at that speed you would have downshifted into third, the truck jumps straight to third.

The transmission will absolutely skip gears................................

there are literally torque tables designed to calculate the torque to skip from 5th to 3rd, 4th to 2nd, etc.

I mean anyone with a tacoma could verify this is wrong with 5 mins of driving.

Have you read any of our blogs?
