Well, I'll be damned, this morning I definitely got it to downshift 5 - 3 without the pit stop in 4th. Nothing like doing 80 at 4700 rpm lol.

So what tables should I tune to make the truck more likely to skip a gear when downshifting, and less likely to spend a second or so in the in-between gear?

Can the transmission skip 2 gears? Say downshift from 6 to 3?

OVTune really rounds off 5.29 gears. Very happy with the combination, the throttle response is the most noticeable thing for me. Only thing I can't seem to find, does OV sell some swag? Even just a sticker?

 

Your primary shift tables can help, otherwise your transmission torque shift maps. Lower values equals more likely to downshift.
I'm still at a loss if those speeds more closely match reality ( what the truck says when it shifts) or the values in the program. Seems to be much closer to reality though.

 

Easiest method:
I think you should try to ask more from the pedal. Raise tip in after 20 or 30%. You won't get the feeling of mashing the throttle but indeed you'll be requesting more. If you ask for enough acceleration, you should skip a gear every time. And of course it's gonna rev, your jumping from .58:1 to a 1:1 gear ratio.

 

Making the pedal response faster does seem to always have positive effects on shifting performance. I like my pedal response where it is though, about halfway between stock and ECT, so I think I'll start with modifying the shift schedules and torque tables.

 

@Rafael@OVTune or @OVTune I created a ticket on 2/20/21 (24352) about getting access to the tune pack for my truck, and I have not heard back. I created another ticket today: 26899. I am a dongle user that was upgraded to VF. Could someone please give me a hand getting access to tune pack?

Yessir. The only problem is that they needed to get a hold of the current owner to swap.


Of course, you can just give the mods the text that you want in there and they edit it in and close the thread.

Im a user from before VF tuner even existed. My truck is already tuned just not with VF tuner as I never got the tune packs. Mat replied so I should be fine soon.
