Maybe, I haven't played around with VF at all, so trying to make adjustments is a no-go right now. Regular 2.0 worked really well for me, so if it aint broke...

On prior tunes, I was averaging just over 20. When I went to MW3.1 premium, I dropped to low 18’s. Now I’m guessing I’ll average AT LEAST 21 (typically mpg starts low and gets better)

Never intended to increase miles per gallon... but smiles per gallon, absolutely.

From Webster's, definition of overachiever...... "One who achieves success over and above the standard or expected level." Yeah seems to fit.

I may have dropped a mile per gallon, but I can't blame the tune, it's the result of the enjoyment of driving a tuck that runs really, really well. I probably don't drive near as spirited as others here, and I am sure if I backed off and took it easy the mpg would improve. Maybe I'll test that theory - when I get bored having fun driving it the way I am now.

I had a 1999 Wrangler that had an arrow that lit up every time I was supposed to shift, at very low rpm, I guess for the best gas mileage. The guy that came up with that probably moved on to help develop the transmission shift part of the Tacoma ECU.

You really don't know what you're missing then. I liked 2.0 as well, but after flashing on M+W, I'm hooked.

By the way, you ever get those credits? Looks like you bought some a week ago and were asking how the process was. I'm waiting as well, just bought some today, hopefully, mid-week I'll see something.

Hmm interesting, so I guess I'll be trying 91 octane on a 87 tune this week and see what that's all about.

Would anyone know when a TSB update is needed for an ECU ID prior to flashing their Tacoma, that they would need to purchase credits from vFTune for the appropriate tune update? Or is ti free? (i.e. 04B60 to 04B61)

I've got 33's and just put 600 miles on the new 5.29 gears, running Prem M+W 3.1, and mpgs have been garbage since the new gears, unfortunately. the same tune on stock gears gave me a good 2MPG bump over stock tune. Gunna play with some stuff now that gears are broken in, and if I have any breakthroughs, I'll pass it along.

I'm not convinced that simply changing the 'gear ratio' fields is the only thing required for a tune to REALLY work on a different gear ratio. That, or I'm wrong, and I'm just gunna have to get used to 15 city and 16.5 highway...

but on the other hand, being able to accelerate in 6th gear with no downshifting feels damn nice haha.

Brings back fond memories of my 2000 wrangler that did the same thing. Most fun vehicle I ever had. But those shift arrow settings were whack! Fortunately on an MT you could ignore them.

It certainly performs better. Better mileage too, just not enough to outweigh the price.
2.0 based tunes are octane learning. They'll advance timing enough for a noticable performance difference. The premium tune just starts higher and goes higher than the regular tune.

Just to give you an idea, his mild (ECT off) is like driving with ECT on steroids. His wild (ECT on) is way beyond that, lol.

Is this thread about reflashed ecu’s with specific programs like vF, or are people requesting specific tunes?

can someone reference a post number I should read? (I read First 3 pages)
