I need a tune that adds two additional cylinders taking it to a total of 5.7L like my old tundra. And will it give me a single axle on the front vs IFS? Excited to make upgrades via a laptop. 2018 OR 4x4 latest TSB flash applied.

I’m curious about the intake valve target map. I saw where someone made changes to it but never specified exactly what the outcome was of it. So I never did it

In case anyone is interested in giving this a go ~ it's a combination of Mild+Wild from @Mooseditty17 and what @dave82at has posted. This is a Premium fuel version for 4.88 gears and 275/70/17 (32) tires.

I trimmed back the "Throttle Management - Throttle Limit S Gear 1 & 2" down 5% for columns 0-8.3 to make it a bit more smooth in parking lot/back woods/situations that require a more delicate touch.

I have a favor to ask

looking for a vft file for:

04A61 - regular, 5.29, 33, thx, and voltage settings adjusted for an AGM battery

anyone happen to have this? I had to burn my credits this past week due to an issue with a local guy on 04B33...looks like OV has everything down on their website currently as well, so I can’t buy more at the moment.

Dude, that's exactly what I need with the exception of 34" tires. I just flashed OV's stock and it's an improvement for sure. Just want to dial it in a bit more.

Hey PapaRee, Just finished a few more days with the tune, and here's the rest of my feedback: (This is running 04B04-DaCruiser3.0-Reg but set to 5.29 gears, my 32.8 tires and my personally-preferred throttle mgmt values)

So, MPGs def stayed down about 1MPG over several days of testing, compared with the one I've been working on myself. This could easily be because my gears, since I generally believe a 3.91 tune needs more than changing the gear size parameters to 5.29 to translate perfectly. Since I no longer have a 3.91 truck to test on, I'm assuming this is the reason, since most other people on 3.91 are not reporting the same MPG hit I'm seeing.

ECT mode seemed to improve the MPG back to my normal readings, and that includes on highway. Again, I believe same reason as above. The changes you have to ECU make the tune closer to what I'm having more success with on 5.29s.

I'm going to go revert back to test some stuff I need to test over the weekend, but fun to run yours for a few days! Thanks for sharing! Crazy how hypervigilant playing with tuning makes us when it comes to our trucks... lol.

I think it might be something else. When I tried the other files before the edit for dump tubes was available the check engine light would come on way before 70 miles.

Could be a bad sensor or connection. I am running catless dumps and URD U spec. No codes...
For the tune to work the sensor must be good and connected. (I learned this the hard way)

Still needs more testing, but I think I figured tc unlocking without raising the temperature of the converter.

Before, I was not able to spool more than 2200 rpms going uphill at 70 or above.
Did some changes a while ago that allowed to bump rpms to 2500 at 34-36* angle, but I was not comfortable with the temp of the converter going up on long inclines. (SLU=0, TC Lock=0)

After reviewing a bunch of TS logs, I decided to update TC Unlocking 1-4, 5-6, S1-S3 tables for 26-40* range. I was surprised to see rpms going up to ~2500 while SLU and TC are locked. Also I was able to push the accel to 45* on the climb and got the acceleration without a kickdown to 4th. I was comfortably doing "the traffic flow" on 5 mile incline and the accelerator felt alive and responsive.
(1st image vs 2 nd image with old TC unlocking)

I still have no clue which tables control what, so I update all 3 groups. My goal is to have TC partially unlock between 70-75 while accel between 30-40, keeping SLU=1( converter temp is going down).

Also I started getting consistent 4-5 upshift at speeds above 65 (67-70) under the load. Here is upshift 4-5 table. Still need to be revised for speeds above 70

    upload_2021-1-17_15-11-1.jpg

Still was not able to get the downshift to 4th working on my conditions. Actually I have not dropped to 4th on long inclines for quite long time due to 5th gear mods

What would it take to modify this for premium octane? Is it straight forward or more in-depth?

Ideally I'd like to make a premium octane with AGM. The AGM part I can handle but I'm unsure how to start the process of making it premium octane?

The only differences in VFTuner that I have found in a Premium vs Regular octane tunes is 2 maps under "Spark Control." So you can change those two maps to match the premium ones (just compare the two and you will see). Now, I'm not sure if there are any other differences that are NOT in VFtuner (done by Mat only), but these are the only two that I could find.
The other way is to start with a known 2.0 Premium tune, then make ALL the changes to that tune using the compare tunes function. It is very time consuming!

Is this file the latest and greatest 04B81 Mild+Wild? I flashed a guy this weekend with 2.0 but he later complained that his MPG dropped too badly (didn't even give it 100mi yet :duh:)

Based on others feedback it seems like the newest M+W are getting better MPG than the first couple iterations...before I give this guy his money back and/or he blasts me on FB, I'd at least like to try the M+W to see if it makes any improvement on his truck.

Just as a general rule (for anyone providing or selling tunes) I would personally recommend to *never* guarantee any sort of MPG increase. MPG is so variable and individual based on driving experiences you are looking for headaches offering any sort of thing like that.

For sure...I never made any guarantees to the guy and told him he needed to give the 2.0 tune at least 500mi to settle in...he gave it one day and a trip to work and sent me a message asking for money back and flash back to stock. Can't win them all I suppose.
