What really confuses me about tuning is the connections between all these perimeters y'all keep talking about... Air load, acid, throttle whatever, etc, etc....

This is why am so hesitate and confused to alter stuff....

The secret is...... We aren't sure either.

    Good luck!

It's been trial and error man. I don't touch anything having to do with fuel, timing, ignition, etc.

Most of what we are doing messes with the throttle actuator.

Some of the things we have done were with guidance from ovtune. He is having a webinar on the 17th to answer questions, tips etc.

I have made some tunes that made the truck un drivable. I have been from one extreme to the other and found out how certain things affect others.

I got in some nice wheeling today. 4Lo and 4Hi were stellar. It was a great day playing in the mud. I will have to check the AAD. Some deep-ish water.

Still. I'm stoked with the tune.

can confirm interpolating the full Acceleration Throttle Request to Airload table (linearizing it) got me the most direct throttle feeling to date, with maybe a slight jumpiness in first somewhere around 2500rpm or something. if we can dial that little jump down a hair it would be just right. after this i may try doing the smoothing again 800-2000.

That's the throttle sensitivity i was talking about. My first tune has a severe jump there.

I tried what i did before to tone that jump down but it just caused some other lumpiness.

I rewrote my primary and 1st gear maps and found something nice, but i killed my tip in (can you say stall your mt on an incline)

I have a new set going in this morning for testing.

This thing is gonna be so smooth my bobble head won't even bobble.

Actually I'm now stuck with this horrible tip in tune until i get a new reg file.

I guess i put off the windows update so long that it did it anyway.

Opened my computer and it said "wait while we get everything setup for you"

Went to flash and all gray, system id changed.

I bet the service guy stalls my truck 3 times when i go get my 20k done this Wednesday.

I'll see if i can ninja record it, should be funny

i put another 80 or so miles on today, 3rd start after flashing the flattened accelerator table on plain '04B14 SFOB Prem dump tubes' with all kinds of driving. here's what i have to say:

any of you guys wanting the direct throttle experience, do this now to try it. @tonered @MOC221_ @Shellshock and whoever... this is the best throttle experience hands down from any flash, and i haven't even smoothed anything yet. there's a moderate throttle jump in first at ~2500rpm at half throttle that will need some attention, but wow does this feel like the skinny pedal has come alive. definitely a worthy experiment if nothing more.

Are you talking about this edit:
If so, I need to look at it. This is the new map that was added on the last vF version?

yessir. but i didn't do the torque edit he mentioned at the end of the post. i am doing one thing at a time and assessing each step. so, ctrl-A & ctrl-I. that's it.

Sounds like I’m gonna have to start experimenting too. Hopefully the webinar clears up a lot of unknowns

    Thanks!

I don't have my computer with me. It might be good to post the before shot?

Orrrrr! A new thread in the Perf and Tuning forum for this?

I promise to get a main ToC post ready. I started that edit, but ended up having some fun this weekend.

maybe a thread but not sure. if you do a throttle controls thread it may be premature since we're just finding out what can do what. but couldn't hurt. @92ehatch may have an opinion.

In my mind, I think it would be best to have an individual thread for each 3D / 4D map edit to explain what we know (guess) and show before's and after's. That way folks with other ECUs can know if the before data matches. That was my approach on with the 04B04 ALC data.

From there, I will attempt to link up those threads and the pertinent posts in the 1st Post here. A ToC section for each map as they are sorted in vF?

I am open to ideas / opinions there.

I know I saw a post about where to mail the dongle, but can not find it again. I assume its just Matt's address?

The new map added was the one for full throttle torque base or something, i changed it to 5000 instead of 4000 all the way (although i did this first, it had 0 effect) Then i did the CTRL I to the throttle request to airload and that allowed me to have full throttle.

I completely rewrote the primary throttle and 1st gear primary tables last night and loaded it. I need to fix this one as i killed the low RPM throttle (in fact, it almost stalls on every hill i try to take off on)

HOWEVER since my system id changed, since apparently you can only ignore a windows update for so long, i am now stuck until my zendesk ticket for a new REG file is fixed.

With that said. The file i loaded yesterday is smooth as silk. once you get it moving it is the closest thing you can get to a cable actuated throttle. Im pretty damn confident that after i fine tune the low rpm side of it, it will be the last time i edit those tables.

I have full throttle plate, even when i dont need it, i dont get random bumps and dips in torque as the throttle contemplates what it wants to do.

Will be interesting to see how good i can get it....when i can flash again.

    Great news!

I still need to look at both of those and have not updated vF yet.

My System ID changed earlier this year with an MS Update. That had me freaked out about the V2004 Update, but thankfully, that one didn't screw me. OVT was really fast with the new REG file.

funny, i was looking at the reg file (i have made/edited reg files in TXT format before) but as i suspected when i looked at it, it has a HEX code and a key in there. I was hoping i could just type in my new ID and good to go, but im not touching it.

waiting for the man to make it good

I was just happy to safely delete and change values in the registry in the past. X-mouse and typing in layered windows are a couple of my favorite tools. I just wish there was an easy setting to blow out the fucking Ribbon. Still hating on that after 15yrs.
