How does 2.0 with the tsb compare with 04b13 with 2.0?
I'm coming from the latter with 2.0

The TSB being 04b14? Or 04b13? They were both TSBs lol

    04b14 > 04b13

    Definitely recommend updating

It was a noticeable improvement over 04B13. Basically, the difference that could be felt between 04B13 Stock and 04B14 Stock translated into the 04B14 2.0 tunes.

i finally captured some of the "tugging" bumpy road feeling that i get on my 2019. This is mostly prevalent with medium throttle input under higher loads.

This was uphill, in 4th gear, just giving it a medium throttle input. you can feel it lunging slightly as you accelerate. it typically smooths out and goes away around 2500 rpms

look at the rpms, up down up down up down. but the throttle input is fairly steady. unfortunately the only throttle i grabbed was "relative" somehow i didnt get the actual in there.

    @OVTune any thoughts on this?

I did this to the PTTTG1 tables and have been driving on it for the past few days. Butt dyno says 1st gear has more torque. I didn't create any of these values. I grabbed the ones already there and pasted it for each rpm range.

i did this in one of my files but changed it back to test other things after i found some changes in how my throttle was reacting. it felt good but im questioning whether it is a good idea or not.

I'm beginning to think this is not tune related.

I have the slip yoke clunk as well (the thud that happens after you stop)

I'm thinking this is the same thing in reverse.

Ie: you apply moderate throttle and the torque lifts the front of the differential (axle wrap)

As it attempts to return to a neutral position the slip yoke binds then releases causing a thud as it releases (front of differential drops)

Then like a rubber band it repeats this slightly less severely until it settles out.

The binding and releasing could cause the rpms to raise (binding releases) and lower (binds)

Especially since this is only happening during higher load and lower speed acceleration.

Anyone else have thoughts on this theory?

This would also help explain why i don't have this problem when I'm towing my trailer (John boat trailer) it's only a few hundred pounds but it's keeping the leafs loaded more

I'm not so sure about the slip yoke, although I do want to get in there someday and add a bit more lube.

I think it might be the clutch plate springs? I don't have an issue with the neutral clunk that seems to bother some folks:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/m-t-guys-loud-clanks-when-in-neutral-over-bumps.540933/

I do hear mine clunk when I disengage while under load, like after creeping up my driveway and stopping. For me since flashing OVT, the driveline lash is way better. About 95% gone compared to stock and other MTs that I have had?

I have felt a slight difference even with an empty trailer attached. That extra bit of drag, while insignificant overall, could change the load in the driveline enough to smooth this out? Of course, springs are F = k x. That end bit of light preload on the clutch cushioning springs may be enough to cancel what you are seeing?

If I had anything to really input is that the clutch cushioning springs could be just a touch more stiff? That might even give us a bit more clutch feel? Given some of the Toyota design weirdness, it would not surprise me to find out that they are progressive springs. LoL!

A crazy question came up today at work. My buddy with a 250 super duty said his top speed was limited to 92 mph. I have seen ~115 is what 3rd gen tacomas are limited to.

After ovtune, what are top speeds with lightly modified MTs?

I know Mat never removed the speed limiter from his tune. 115 MPH is way beyond the legal limit, and beyond the limit of most of the tires guys throw on their trucks, so maybe there's a liability issue if people start blowing tires.

You can raise your limiter in vF Tuner yourself. People have been setting it to max, 312kph

Don't get me wrong. My Tacoma would likely never see much more than 100 mph although it was rock solid at 95 when I hit that on the way back from GSMNP this past Saturday. My question was more towards what is possible.

I am interested in the vF Tuner for other reasons though. What real world enhancements might I be able to achieve if I went this route?

My feelings on speed regulators imposed by governments or manufacturers is NO. As a responsible adult I will make my own decisions in life. This has served me well for the first 59 years of this adventure!

Every Taco is going to be a bit different. Lifts, racks, elevation, weather, and such are going to affect it, esp with our aero package.

All that I know is that my Taco feels more planted in the 80+ range than at 60.

I have my limiter effectively removed as vote toward personal responsibility also.

So, it has been about a week on the latest tune. I cannot tell you folks how happy I am with all the edits. I wouldn't mind a couple more tweaks along with wondering about that throttle PID wavering around. The smoothness is just remarkable though!

I think I have fully adapted to this linear throttle setup. It is certainly there for me. That crazy PTTT shape was doing all the wrong things in my mind considering the engine loads and throttle position change with RPM. It seems to truly go where my foot puts it and is still reminding me of the old days and my favorite drives?

Thanks for all the development work done here that puts some nice polish on top of 2.0!
