Just tried to flash a Yotawerx tune to my truck with VFtuner. the flash failed and now i get the error "Cannot read vin, Openport device is either unplugged or the Key is off". Havn't flashed a tune in a few years. Something similair happened years back and i had to use techstream i think to clear the DTC? I can't remember. I think the tune file was maybe vin locked to a different vin that he sent me... I have another tune that i was running prior. if anyone can help me get my truck back up and running. it wont start.

So, I tried disconnecting the battery for 15 minute reconnecting same thing, tried to clear DTC using techstream, still same problem. Techstream wont even read the vin of my vehicle. I'm assuming I will need to use the ECU recovery tool of vftuner. Never done this. I just read the PDF and emailed vftuner with the information that their recovery tool pdf requested. I guess my truck is dead in the water until i hear back from them :(

Is there voltage at the DLC? I had an old Tactrix 2.0 cable blow the fuse for the DLC on a Subaru and it wouldn't communicate.

Got a reply back from vftuner zendesk with my access key to use the ecu recovery tool. However, when I follow the steps to flash the stock 04b33 ECU tune it just errors out about 1/3 of the way through flashing and gives me an error ER1632. I hear the sound of usb device disconnecting and reconnecting, Tried flashing a couple of other tunes that I know worked as well and nothing is working flash just times out. I am flashing using my desktop PC Active USB 15ft cable that i've always used for years. I havn't flashed a tune with the new VFtuner 3 yet. Last time I flashed a tune was about 3 years ago to my vehicle. I do use this tactrix cable and extension USB many times for Techstream with no problems whatsover in the past month. Super bummed vehicle dead in the driveway :(

Good luck with the new cable. Hope it works. Just curious. Why so many flash updates?

not sure I understand the question, but if you're asking why i decided to flash. I was on valley runner for close to 3 years and wanted to try a different tune. Kinda kicking myself for that now.

a couple tuners were telling me that there has been a lot of updates since my tune so that was the main reason, but i'm feeling this righ know for sure. atleast the truck is in my own driveway. hoping vftuner zendesk hits me today with some solid info to get me up and running.

I'm surprised you were able to start vftuner. In my case, old versions were throwing errors related to license and tactrix cable. I had to stay on top of the upgrades. Now my laptop is out of space and I cannot get new version installed and they disabled the previous version.
    Please inform of the resolution.

I had to completely uninstall vftuner and all associated folders and then re install the new version. It was a clean install on my pc prior to this flash that bricked it!

Legacy, as that's the dongle I have. @tonered tells me the software now ties to the dongle and not the PC, so I am going to install onto my laptop and try and flash with it the recovery tool next as I wait for VFtuner Zendesk in the meantime.

So I was able to install onto my laptop, however in order to use the ECU recovery tool on my laptop I need to send VFtuner my seed phrase to get a key to use it. I guess the seed phrase is specific to the Computer you install the software on. Sent this info over to VFtuner. Still no work back from them yet since yesterday around 6pm. hopefully hear from them soon...
