I know plenty of folks have used VHT Night Shade paint to tint their tailights, but I was wondering if anyone tinted their headlights too? and what it looks like afterwards. I have HID's so I think it would still be bright enough at night. Prolly illegal but I think we have all driven 56 in a 55 before right? So don't judge me. Anyone have any pics or stories of being hassled by po-po after attempting???

    Yeah, I gots boost
It will cut your light output noticeably. I did it to the Altima I had before this truck. I ended up buying new headlights. If anything, get the film so that you can at least take it off later. Running 55w hid drop ins shows that you could give two shits about the LEOs or other motorists... just do it. You already know you're going to anyway.

All of that being said, I have seen it done on a second gen Tacoma, and I really wasn't a big fan of the look.

If you want the blacked out look, do it another way, retrofit with projectors and paint everything black. You'll have a clear lens but everything blacked out behind it. You'll even actually improve your light output, who woulda thunk it...

What he said^ or you could buy the ebay lights that have a tinted front lens.......and get the results you want.

IMO VHT Night Shades is crap and if you don't know how to use it.....it could end up being very messy and piss you off. You will get what I call spotting.

I've got a long list of reasons why not to do this in my head. I'm trying to figure out a single reason for doing it though

It will look like you modded the truck in 1995.

Remember all those black snap-on headlight covers?

everyone know headlights are for cops so that they can monitor you while driving... i drive dark with NVG's on. Took all my lights out in case someone hits a switch by accident. Black it out, say efff you to the MAN
