    I’ve got about 35K on mine and they have 50% left. Damn good tire. I’m ready to bump up to 285’s. Wish they made that size in a C load. Such a HUGE difference in tire weight for our 3.5L. It’s bad enough that tires are expensive but when you have to factor in regearing that just sucks.

    There are a few choices for 285/75/16 that are c load. I had a relatively cheaper Korean tire call Pathfinder A/T that Discount Tire carries. A truly excellent tire! Check it out when you're ready.

    The bad news is that lowering tire pressure did not alleviate the vibrations.
    The good news is it very noticeably reduced it to where it does not bother me near as much.

    So, tire pressure is either: the problem, part of the problem, or a 'relatively' effective remedy.

    That said, I am still going to back to Discount Tire to try and completely eliminate the problem and will make them aware of the Toyo recommendation for psi in those size Toyo tires.

    What I did this morning was I lowered psi to 28.5(ish) cold.
    Previous cold PSI was 33.
    After driving for 30 mins plus at highway speeds they were fully warmed up, driving with much less vibration, and hot psi was at:

    I had pathfinders on my old 4x4 and they were fine, tread life sucked but with a cheap price and mileage warranty who cares. Would buy again all day long.

    My mistake dude, it seems even Pathfinder's are only available in E load. I swear I've seen a couple c load 285/75 tires when I first replaced the stock goodyears....

    whats the difference? E rated are stout enough imho, damn things probably weigh 75+lbs in that size.

    E loads are usually 10 ply whereas c loads are 4 ply. About a 6-8 lb difference generally that actually makes a noticeable difference if you're a stickler for fuel economy, especially city driving.
    If you tow/haul heavy weight or if you wheel a lot, e loads are the better choice I would think.

    SO I'm trying to put together commonalities here.

    *The vibration issue OP had with TRD wheels which are +4mm offset, and 285 KO2's is the weird variable here.

    I too am lifted on Fox 2.5's all around, SPC UCA's, and have only a very little extra weight over stock (Motown lowpro bumper, JTM rear bumper, TRD skid).
    I have had 2 different wheel/tire setups (3 if you include stock) and no vibration ever before in the slightest.

    Aside from that, I went from 16" 0 offset wheels and 285/75 to a 17" wheel with -10mm offset, just like OP - 16" to 17", smaller offset to larger offset.
    Our tire size is different. I have 265/70Toyo AT3's and I have the same vibration as OP, just slightly less it seems, still very annoying and in need of remedy.

    Saturday will be my 3rd attempt at balancing. I am going to have them fill the tire to 28 psi cold and balance it as meticulously as possible.

    If that does not work, I am trading the Toyo's for Cooper AT3 LT's same size (265/70).

    I will report back here if anything changes.

    Still awaiting to hear OP's latest attempt at a fix!

    We have yet to hear from the OP so I'm thinking he is still having issues. The last he said the dealer had it fixed but let's see if the OP feels that it's fixed.

    Hi Everyone... sorry for the delay as I'm now more puzzled than ever and didn't really want to cause confusion for all... but I guess I don't have any answers or clue as far as what's going on. I can only share with you what happened after I got my vehicle from Toyota on Wednesday PM:

    Timeline:
    Got the truck. No vibration in the seats, no vibration in the steering wheel at various speeds. After 20 miles I noticed a slight vibration while braking "In the steering wheel".
    Informed Toyota and they said that's probably the rotors and need to be checked.

    Next morning, while driving the truck to work as soon as I reached 55-60mph I noticed steering vibration is present while cruising. I applied brakes and there was vibration in the steering wheel which was even worst than before...(unfortunately TW doesn't let me upload .mov files or I would have uploaded the video)
    Going back home, truck drives perfectly smooth without any vibration. After about 20 miles I noticed slight vibration while braking on flat/downhill at cruising speeds with mild brake applied.

    Waiting for another appointment to check the rotors I guess...

    Tried reducing the air pressure to 30psi without any luck. Just more tension on the steering wheel.

    I have no clue what's going on....

    One thing that I noticed is that the I try to turn the steering, it feels as it's in 4wd or a similar feeling maybe. This is at higher speeds of course and not at a full turn. Just enough pressure on the steering wheel to slightly change the direction of the vehicle. I can feel a pulsing resistance if when the steering isn't shaking.

    I have no idea...

    Dude I feel your frustration as I am experiencing the same thing - going from a 16" to 17" wheel with wider offset and Toyo tires...
    I will have more info after I visit Discount Tire tomorrow at 8am for a last ditch effort.
    If it doesn't work, I am going to switch back to Coopers and see if it is an issue with Toyo at3's and wider offsets or 17" tires on a tacoma or what...

    I know it's not:

    driveshaft angle (low speed vibes)
    need for leaf shims (mid speed vibes 40-60ish. our vibes are happening 60-72ish)
    alignment (not really a vibration issue unless it's absolutely horribly off)
    ECGS bearing (I have one)
    Rotors warped. My rotors were perfectly fine before the new tires and have 47k miles.

    Possible causes:
    Tires are bad (not likely due to your experience with KO2's)
    Wheels are bad, - not likely due to your different wheel use and mine being brand new with no off-roading yet. Plus, Ray 10's are a high quality wheel.
    Some issue about going from a 16" to a 17" wheel on a TRD - not likely at all
    Shops are not balancing correctly - most likely thus far
    Toyo AT3's don't like wider offsets on 17" wheels - thats a stretch....

    The mystery continues....

    I'm getting bad vibes from all this!

    We'll get to the bottom of this mess.

    Do yourself a favor and check the torque on the lug nuts (83 lb/ft is the spec) by loosening a bit and then retorquing. Use a star pattern when you do it.

    I had an issue of vibration (especially under braking) and was told by my dealer that my rotors were warped and that I needed a brake job, even though my pads had at least 70% of material left. They diagnosed it while it was in for an oil change/tire rotation. Well sure enough, even after I passed on their overpriced brake service, all vibration was gone. I suspect that they took a little more care this time torquing the wheels.

    It is probably not going to cure the entire vibration issue you're having, but its a quick, easy, and cheap way to rule that out as part of the overall set of symptoms you're seeing. Good luck!

    The common factor for a few of you who seem to be experiencing issues after getting new tires seems to be Discount Tire.

    After reading all of these stories, I wouldn't get near that place if you paid me.

    I might agree as it’s a clear connection but I have used them for many different wheels, tires, and on three prior vehicles with absolutely no issue.

    I’m really leaning towards something with a lifted 3rd gen TRD OR, and going from 16” to 17” wheels with a wider offset. I have no idea what the connection is but those are the constants here.
