I haven't seen anyone report a vibration in the 5-spd shifter at highway speeds (50-55 mph). In my '08 4WD with 25,000 miles, the shifter recently started vibrating from front to back, causing an annoying buzz. Even if I hold the shifter, I can't stop the vibration or the buzz. Any ideas what to ask the dealer to look at while I'm still on warrantee?

    Thanks everyone.

are you sure it's coming from the shifter itself? try and check if its vibrating something else or it could be one of the bolts that holds the shifter in place came loose. if anything just go down do the dealer since it's still under warranty.

It IS the shifter that is vibrating, but since I can't stop the vibrating by holding the shifter, I assume it is caused by something else within the transmission or drivetrain. I'd also bet that the dealer will consider it on of these nagging little things that they don't want to try to find, which is why I hope someone here will have some insignt.

    Thanks.

Vibration in the shifter is a bad sign. Head to the dealership and have them check it out. Either the driveline angle is out of whack or something in the transmissions internals is having issues, like a shift rail bolt being loose or a fork that may be bent.

+1 take it in and be firm on it being a problem and not just a funny tacoma quirk.
