Hi. New to the group. Just bought a 2013 reg cab 4x4 with a 2.7 auto trans and have a vibration problem. I read a bunch of TW threads but still can’t find one that exactly describes my issue. The truck vibrates when I accelerate from a dead stop and lasts for maybe 1 second. It’s always in first gear and starts vibrating a few feet after moving. Kind of like the rumble strip description and definitely feels like it’s coming from the back. I don’t get the vibration at any other time but it’s consistently there on every acceleration. I also have what I feel is excessive clunking when putting the truck into drive after backing up and vise versa. Not sure if these two issues are related. I greased the front and rear ujoints and no change. Anyone have this same issue(s)?

I've got a 2012, and the same thing happens. Not all the time, but regularly. It's a bit embarrassing when it happens because it must seem to onlookers that I don't know how to drive a stick!

Had a vibration like this about a year ago. I don’t think it was first gear, but it always happened between 25 or 30 mph. Once the truck shifted, the vibration stopped. It steadily got worse and more consistent at the same speed. Turned out it was my torque converter in the trans… When was the last time you changed your transmission fluid? I don’t mean to sound judgemental, because I hadn’t given any thought to change my fluid and ended up paying for it. For your sake, I hope it’s not this particular issue…. How many miles do you have? Mine started doing this around 120k miles.

I just bought the truck about 2 months ago and not sure when/if the trans fluid was changed. I was thinking about doing that at regardless just to eliminate that as a cause

I was chasing a vibe like that for 2 years. Turns out my driveshaft was out of balance. $35 fix. But also check your ujoints

I know you said you greased your u joints but did you check them too with rear wheels up in the air? Sounds exactly like when I've had a bad u joint. Also probably a good time to grease the slip yoke on the driveshaft with the blue PTFE grease if you haven't, there's some threads on that.

To bet installed: bling grill, headlights, fog lights.
Also ensure those u-joints are in phase. In other words, in the same orientation.

No prob it's worth just getting the rears a bit off the ground. Didn't realize it made much of a difference until my mechanic caught one that was going that you couldn't tell with wheels on the ground and let me know

Update- I swapped the driveshaft and the rear trans mount. I still have this vibration, which I’m now calling a wobble. Trying to upload a vid to see if anyone out there has an opinion of what is causing this. Any help is appreciated!

Was having a similar issue and it ended up being my drive shaft. Should hopefully have it fixed this week :fingerscrossed:

Oh man. Well, I’m now into this vibration for a new driveshaft, rear trans mount, and just replaced the rear leaf springs with icon rxt’s. My vibration, or wobble, is still there. Trans fluid is full and I added lubeguard shutter fix. Not sure where to go next. Thinking maybe the motor mounts? Any ideas are welcome

Replacement drive shaft, OEM or after market? Could be out of balance. Replaced my drive shaft at 90k with OEM and was balanced. Solved vibration.

Was the truck lifted when you bought it?
Have you checked/measured you driveshaft angles? Since it only happens on take off and it’s lifted, it’s the first place I would look
