It will only hold up for about 4-5 years (Depending on weather). I used a 'decent' wrap on my Integra hood and it lasted me 2 years parked out side in Az sun before it started to peel. I've heard better quality will last longer.

A good paint job will hold up a lot longer than vinyl wrap would. I'd look to have it painted, it shouldn't cost that much to do.

Why would you want a black roof?

I wouldn't for protection value, but if you want the roof black then go for it.

I think black in general takes away from a trucks appearance. I wouldn't do it.

Why would you want those ugly wind deflectors all over your truck? Same reason the OP wants a black roof, because he likes it.

It's just personal opinion. I think if it is done right, it could look neat.
