Don't want a hybrid. I am interested in the tesla but I'm sure it will be more than I want to spend. We have Leafs and Prius in our city fleet. Not a fan of either.

Wagons are cool. Leaning towards all wheel drive. But open to anything. I'm just out of the loop on newer stuff. I got some what obsessive over motorcycle a decade or so ago and kind lost track of the automotive world. So any ideas are welcome. And I will do my best not to sound like an asshole. Thanks

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
@Juforrest so, living in the area, we have a Highlander. My wife loves it. We decided on the highlander over other vehicles because of the 3rd row seating. Even with the seats up, there is just enough room in the back for a few bags. Since our families don't live in the area, we do have people in the area that we drive around. The Rav doesn't have that great of 3rd row seating. I don't know about the Mazdas because we didn't drive those... but my wife wants another highlander after we are done with the current one.

We had a CX-5 for 13 months and sold it. Beautiful on the outside, soul-less everywhere else. Underpowered, noisy, hard and flat seats. No manual trans with AWD. Handled well on smooth, curvy roads, but on typical broken pavement, it was no treat. I to am in the VW mess with 2 TDI's under the gun. I won't go back to VW unless they seriously pony-up on the buy-back dollar amount, because they don't really care about me as a customer as evidenced by the foot-dragging going on here. I would consider a GTI if they were near MSRP on both my TDI's, but that is doubtful. The big problem is there are so few cars in the mid-$20K range that have the solid feel of a VW, decent gas mileage and are available in manual trans (the trans part is non-negotiable).

The Nissan Leaf isn't a hybrid. It is an EV with a range of 100 miles tops on one charge. No thanks.

    Ewww mini vans.

And to add to the highlander, shes never had an issue with it driving around dt seattle. She works on first hill, and constantly drives through the city.

Subaru Outback . . . they dont have anymore head gasket or seal issues, but some are seeing oil consumption problems in the FB25 engines. Great handling, lots of room, etc.

I drive a 2013 Ford Explorer AWD (they call it 4WD) for work and it is surprisingly large on the inside. The AWD works great and it is quiet and comfy. Has the V6, which is NA, and no problems merging or keeping up with traffic.

How's the mpg on the explorer? I drove a escape with ecoboost and awd from Seattle to Olympia and back it got 17mpg. That's total shit. I didn't expect it to so low.

I will. One of her girlfriends has a 08 she said we could borrow for a couple days. Another one has a RX 350 we can try out as well.

My old work truck, an'05 Expedition, is going to surplus so they gave me the Explorer about a month ago. I havent had a chance to tally up the mileage yet, but can say that I am not that impressed with the frequency of fill-ups. Given the size of the tank, Im guessing maybe 18-20 mpg? I wo t know until next week, will post with final numbers on Monday when I submit mileage.
