How good are the tacoma sales when they release a new model? I want to get my 2015 soon since I sold my f-250, but I dont know if I should wait till they come out with good sales for the 2015 model. Are they that good enough to where I should just wait till August?

I bet it doesnt have much of an impact at all. 2nd gens will remain popular/flying off the lots. 1st gens are still valuable and popular. If you want it now, i'd get it.

I had the same consideration but went ahead and bought my 2015 a week ago. I don't think you're going to see huge savings to be had. The release of the 2016s actually partly prompted me to buy this year. I don't want the first or even second year of the new generation.

If you're heart set on the 2015, get it as supplies are limited. The longer you wait the less choices you will have before production stops on the 2nd gen.

I dont expect any deep discounts as Tacomas sell themselves off dealer lots.

Any reason to trade in the F-250 for the taco? just curious as I have a 250 and lookin at possibly a 2nd gen to avoid any issues with the first year model

i dunno, If you like the look of the 2016's (i love the TRD OR 2016 look) id wait at least until you get hp/tq/mpg/towing numbers on the 2016 before buying the 2015.

aires 3D mats, scan gauge II, rear differential breather relocation, and bakflip G2 bed cover.
I just bought a 2015 tacoma off road 4x4, I traded in a 2008 tundra crewmax limited 4.7. Crewmax was just too damn big. Still driving my 2000 1st year tundra with 250K on it. Resale is higher on tacoma than tundra. Buy it now while you still can.

No one really knows for sure, the last time it happened was 10 years ago.

The reality is Tacomas never last very long on a dealer lot. I don't think anyone expects a glut of 2015 models to be sitting around when the 2016s hit the lots. In fact, I suspect most of the early 2016 allocations will have gone to people who placed orders in June.

If you are very flexible about the truck you want (don't care about color or exact options) then sure why not wait and see what you can get? Worst case you'll pay about the same as now - I doubt they will go up in price!

But, if you are particular about what you want be advised many people end up having to order and wait two to three months for delivery right now. And the way Toyota does "orders" means that eventually they will run out of allocations in particular configurations well before the 2016 models get to the dealer. Some options are quite expensive and useless and some of the lower cost configurations are quite rare. So if you want a stripped down truck then waiting may mean you just get a discount on some over optioned thing that costs more than if you ordered what you want now.

Oh, and for reference all models went up in MSPR and invoice by $200 at the end of January. So prices can in fact go up a little.

Anyway, no easy answer. Personally I had a configuration I wanted and so I placed an order in January just after the 2016 was announced and I knew I wasn't going to wait for a 2016.

if you can wait, wait until 2017 are out. tsb's and recalls may occur with any new major change

and despite the naysayers saying the 2016 is just a dressed up gen2, it is completely different top to bottom, including frame

Waiting for the unveiling of the 2016, bought my 2015 a few weeks later. Not significant enough of a change to make it worth the wait, and I'm apprehensive about the new engine.

    new engine
    new frame
    new drivetrain
ZERO vibe issues (*that is what Toyota is promising)

and you say not significant enough change ?

I bought my son a 2015 DCSB 4x4 Sport on Friday because he, nor I, like the look of the 2016. He didn't really need a truck till August, but those 2016s are BUTT UGLY and I didn't want to take a chance on finding a new 2015 in August.

New problems, unknown and possibly minimal increases in efficiency and power. It is certainly a significant change, but no indication it is significantly better. Possibly just different. And that carries a lot of potential pluses and minuses.

    New ways to rust?

Again, is new necessarily "better"? We don't know. And we won't know for a few years. So waiting until August is kind of irrelevant unless you are dying for 10 more HP or 2 more MPG.

ZERO vibe issues when STOCK. So if you are lifting who knows. But yes, this seems like the one case in which Toyota has gone out of their way early on to say things are noticeably improved.

When did "OK" become a snarky dismissive comment? Your "significant" isn't the same as other people's. Deal with it. You keep dropping this same objection in every 3rd gen thread. Getting old, and as illustrated poorly considered and formed assertion.

New does not equate to better. Unless of course you drink toyota's marketing kool-aid.

I don't think anyone disputes there are a lot of changes. They did in fact change a lot.

The larger question is are the changes significant enough to someone's needs to warrant waiting for the 2016. Depending on what someone wants or needs the answer could be yes or no.

Hopefully, for Toyota, for most people the answer is "yes" and more importantly the changes make people want to buy the Tacoma over a Colorado or Frontier.

But in the end it is still a truck of the same size with likely roughly the same power, efficiency and payload (though we expect all of those numbers to be higher for the 2016). And it won't be a perfect truck, it will have some problems of course. They will likely be different problems from the 2nd gen. As to whether there will be more or less no one knows - not even Toyota at this point.

This is not Ford or Chevy, Toyota does not have sales on the Tacoma. These things sell themselves and dealers know that, if you don't buy it, the next guy will. Good luck
