Seems like the salesman sensed that you wanted the truck real bad and was trying to max out his profits from you. He knows that the 5 speed is getting discontinued and the clock is ticking.
You might want to try another dealer or maybe consider getting a V6 with a manual.

You did right in walking away from something you didn't feel right about.

You're wasting your time fretting over what deal the eventual buyer may or may not get.

    Let it go.

PS. Any chance you are an engineer? I've not seen such analysis paralysis since I managed a bunch of them. No offence to any engineers, I know they aren't all that way.

Dude. If you have an mt forester, keep it. I came from one, an 08. It was like you said, like a race car compared to the truck. But I have the auto v6 and love it. Still nothing like the Subie.

Wife and I had a 2014 MT Forester. Great car but I did not get the same feeling driving it as I did the taco. Apples and oranges.

Doesn't seem like a big deal, OP. If you change your mind I'm sure another suitable truck can be found. On the other hand, if you buy something you arent happy with it's a big hit to the wallet to re-sell/trade so soon.

Nope just tired of people that don't hold true to their word. It seems that some people's word is for shit these days. The guy walks in orders a truck in a trim that no one is going to want. The dealer has to take a bite of that shit sandwich causing the chilling effect for everyone else that wants a special order.

A truck no one is going to like? Toyota sells every truck they build.

I feel the 09 and up forester is not the same as the 08 and under which we're on the Impreza chassis. Just felt completely different.

Op is making excuses about the clutch cause he couldn’t get a deal. It’s not about the money as much as it’s about winning. If he came on here and just complained about the money he would seem petty letting a truck he ordered go over such a small amount. I sold cars for 10 years and have seen 100 guys just like him. The dealership knew what they had a could sale it for msrp. If they had knocked $1000 bucks off of the price we wouldn’t be hearing about the clutch we would be hearing about his great negotiating skills and how awesome the truck is. My two cents, life is to short to fret over $1000 over 5 years. I hope the op gets what he wants.

Yeah, IMO I don’t really care about a few bucks, that’s just not a thing for me.

Thats about what I paid for my SR 4x4 auto. I upgraded from a 2000 and overall I am very happy but there are some things i'm just not happy about. If I was paying 35k plus for a TRD OR I would want it to be perfect but I knew it was out of range and I made some compromises. If you like the truck buy it and if you change your mind after a year you can probably get back most of what you put in.

Whatever. I have zero guilt, the guy told me literally 'don't worry, if you don't like it, the deposit is totally refundable, and I'll have no problem selling it'. This was before I placed the order. Then I drive it and the clutch sticks to the floor, and everyone there tries to act like it's not happening. Gtfo w your bitter salesman sob story

I've only special ordered one vehicle in my life. I went through the dealer and he discounted the price from MSRP a little at the time I placed the order and put down my deposit. When the car arrived, I didn't even think about trying to begin dickering from there, thought the deal had been made at the time I placed the order. Was I mistaken??

I'm not sure that no more 5 speed manuals, I know we all read it in yotas stuff but found this the other day.
    IMG_1447.jpg

Notice it still has 5 speed manual listed, maybe mistake?
