WalMart broke my TPMS

I doubt that would happen because the last thing on their minds in a safety evaluation are TPMS

 

Not to mention that FMVSS 138 (the TPMS law) only requires the system to work with the original tires. It does prohibit the disabling of JUST the light...but it does not require the light to be extinguished.

Do you think that after states start to secede from the Union that they still be bound by such laws?

 

Same thing happened to me at discount tire. But Toyota reset mine for free.

 

The snapshot from a scantool, which is recorded when the airbag deploys, is scrutinized in an accident investigation. Insurance companies are happy to blame people who tamper with safety equipment.
It also records speed, position of throttle, brake on/off, and other data. It may not happen in all investigations, but with a fatality, it's damn near a certain.
Thanks for the link on the FAQ's. Convoluted and murky laws are only changed when enough people raise a stink, or enough people die.
