So I just got back from a vacation in North Carolina at my sisters house. She recently bought a used Harley Iron 883. The thing is, she doesn't know how to ride it. She did the whole "buy the bike, then learn how to ride bike" thing.

So while I was down there, I rode it for a while. Ended up loving it. Like seriously loving it.

I come from crouch rockets. Had a 2009 Yamaha R1 and a 2013 GSX-R 750. Don't have either one anyone. But after riding the Harley, Im like screw those bikes.

It rode nice and smooth, good power, just felt great overall. Although 1st gear and Neutral are EXTREMELY close together, so getting it into Neutral was a bitch at every single stop light.

So Now I want an Iron 883, but the wife, the kids, all this truck stuff I bought recently, the trip to Disney we just took, life, everything!!

Get something larger than an 883. Minimum should be a 1200. You'll be glad you did 6 months after owning it.

People said that about the Street bikes which is why my first bike was an R1... 2 years later I went down to the 750. All that power just got me in trouble and didn't get used otherwise.

I punched the 883 pretty hard on most of the ride and it definitely gave all the power I felt I needed. Never felt bogged down or like I needed more.

I know I will get some people upset with this but I had a HD Electra Glide which I loved until I purchased a BMW R1200GSA. Never took the HD out again and sold it. The BMW does everything better and is much more fun to ride. I ride on and off-road and have seven years of trouble free ownership.

Oh yes, Ive rode a few of the BMWs before. They are amazing. But a little pricey for me. But gotta give them credit, BMW made a great bike

My wife has an Iron and she loves it. It's fun to ride but needs more power. This is her 1st bike and after 4 years she wants something bigger. It's been a good bike for her though.IMG_6267.jpg IMG_6074.jpg

This right here. Street bikes " crotch rocket" and cruisers are definitely not the same. Sure the 883 is a fantastic bike. However if you're an adult Male over 170 pounds I would highly reccomend you try some out. It isnt about the 883 not being able to get up to speed, it is about needing the power and speed for maneuverability. I didn't think I would need anything larger than an 883 myself. Very good friend who is a HD mechanic told me the exact same thing I recommended. Sure 883 is great at first. In under a year I would've sold it for something with more power.

@TSVAO love that bike and the color scheme more

Yeah I'm 6 foot 220 lbs. I look like a circus bear riding a bicycle on it. Mt wife is only 5'4" so the physical size is perfect for her.

My wife is looking at getting a bike herself. I have a 1993 HD fatboy FLSTF and she loves riding it. An 883 would be great for her ( 5 ft 3)

I love Harleys, I have an 81, 84, and a 19. The older ones are definitely a pain in the ass sometimes, but my new one is awesome. I would recommend a big twin if youre 6 ft or taller or you weigh more than 200lbs. You will grow out of a sporty real fast.
