I follow these types of threads every time they come up.:anonymous: Be interested to see what you come up with when you pick. I too am interested in keeping weight down and trying to preserve mpg and power while achieving a somewhat better appearance. I have awhile to figure it out, currently running my stock dunlops that are approaching 15k and eagerly awaiting replacement. Unfortunately they will most likely go at least another 15k and I can not bring myself to chuck em till the time comes. The guys with the big gnarly tires look great but we all know there little motors are challenged. They should be very concerned with weight.

I am going to put 235-255 width on my pro

    No 315 for me

I am looking for largest tires (tallest) I can fit that I can off-road with, without modifying my truck, and keeping it absolutely as light as possible

yeah i wonder how much transmission problems this will solve on mine with a less aggressive tire and 40lbs less unsprung rotating weight but with driving 60 miles a day 3-4 times a week i dont feel like paying for ko2s

I've been running p265/70r17 destination ATs for over 65k miles now on my 2010 and still have 5/32nds. Tire is quiet on the highway, great in the rain, decent in snow, and was WAY cheaper than the BFG. That said, I'll be looking hard at the Cooper AT3s and Hankook Dynapro ATMc when it comes time to replace these. Seems like they have a more modern design and are very affordable.

If money were pulled from the equation I like the michelin at2. Next choice would probably be the firestone at. Road noise is important to me, the quieter I can make it in the cab the happier I am. Trying to maintain a balance of form and function is difficult when looking at tires.

x3 Michelin LTX AT/2. Had them 2x on my last Tacoma, lasted me 90k on 1st set, sold my truck with the 2nd set on them. Achieved stellar gas mileage, they were quiet on the road, and did everything I wanted them to offroad.

I look at weight as well. Really curious about the Destination ATs. They come in a 275 size that's c rated and only weighs 47 pounds. My p rated OE weighs 42. With the FX pro wheels I just bought, I think I can net out at nearly the stock wheel+tire weight.

I have no idea, but they get pretty good reviews.
