    How hard would it be to pull all the chrome off and paint it myself? Should I just take it to a shop and let them do it? Or should I order all the trim in black and change it all out?

    Yes.

    Because it will look and wear better. And you'll have the OE bits left to use, or pass to the next owner. Because the Knight Rider look will eventually die out.
