Do business with extrementerrain.com at your own risk. Purchased a pair of headlights leads than a year ago and they’re peeling and cracking. I’ve driven <5k miles and it’s garage kept. Customer service said they would not return and they have no warranty. I’m out $450 and have to buy a new pair.

What was worse is they offered me a $15 voucher on my next order. About as tone deaf as it gets.

I’m sure they have some good parts but I won’t be doing business with them again. Cant do business with someone who doesn’t who doesn’t stand behind their products.

Before you spend the money on replacements it may be worth trying to sand/polish with a headlight restoration kit then follow it with a baked on UV coating. May or may not be a long-term solution but if those are going in the trash it is worth a try.

I never have any issues with Extreme Terrain. I've been a customer for about 5 years now between extreme terrain and American muscle (Same company). I've had issue in the past but they've always helped me. My headlights were peeling on my 3rd gen. Got a whole new set for free.

I had not had an issue before this either. I like a lot of their products but I’m not giving them another dollar.

This is called "Race to the Bottom"

Who can provide the most appealing product for the least cost wins.

This is why OEM lights are far superior to anything aftermarket.

Have you read the ultimate headlight upgrade sticky at the top of the 2nd gen forum?

    Aftermarket headlights are JUNK.
If you guys realized how many millions of dollars Toyota or xyz car manufacture spends on headlight research and development you wouldn't replace them with an inferior product.
On that note, I'm not so sure I would put the 2nd gens in that category with the old school halogen bulbs. :anonymous:
They get the job done though, even more so once you upgrade the bulbs.

You can try rockauto for a set. I haven't heard good things about DEPO but that TYC brand 'looks' to be OEM quality, take that with a grain of salt. There are dealerships that offer online stores where you can sometimes get things for at-cost which might save you a little bit of sticker-shock from the parts counter and I'm sure other users will have links to the stores that offer the best discount. I would try the ultimate headlight retrofit post that someone referenced here, you can get the polishing compounds and packs of wet use sandpaper to polish/buff the lenses back into near glasslike clarity. Top it with some 4K UV clear which should last you years of shelf-life if you keep it clean and waxed. Bottom-line, you'll never go wrong with direct OEM parts from a dealership but you'll be out dealership money.

DEPO is junk. Something you use to get you by. TYC is nicer. They'll do for a while as an "cheaper slap-in OEM alternative." You do it because you don't mind that cheaper alternative to OEM. OEM, or modded OEM is where it is at.

Maybe even some LaminX protective lense covers. https://lamin-x.com/

Might i suggest off the shelf headlight restoration kit followed by lamin-x headlight film? Comes in vehicle specific shape, no trimming. The only solution ive seen for long term headlight protection that doesnt require maintenance after installation. Its also pretty thick and protects against rock chips. Had it on several cars previously.

Does it affect the output at all? If not I may go this way.
Just read the reviews. Seems like a pita to install.

Ya, the Lamin-X has some bad reviews on their page. 2 out of 5 stars. Only 6 reviews but:

"I was very disappointed in this item. There was no relief cuts on the hard curves therefore it would not contour to the outside edges even with heat. I’m experienced with applying film and I could not get the corners to apply flat. I ended up growing the film away because it was wrinkled up on the top edges. To improve this design I would highly recommend laminate-x to create relief cuts so that way you don’t have to fight with application."

Yeah, I saw that too. I'll keep looking around, gotta be something out there that protects your headlights that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Extreme Terrain wouldn't allow my review to post. They deleted it. Just confirms that this company doesn't really care about customer service.

I didn't have a problem ordering or receiving either. It's the cheap products that they don't stand behind. Hopefully your bumper and winch don't have issues

Your headlights are over a year old. Why would you try to get the seller to do anything? Why not reach out to the manufacturer instead?

    Am I missing something?

If you bought something from Walmart, Target, Bestbuy, Amazon, literally any retailer, and it’s been over a year, what do you expect them to say to you?

The manufacturer doesn't provide a warranty and this started well before they were a year old. A garage kept vehicle that doesn't see the sun shouldn't have that happen in 12 months anyway.

So the manufacturer doesn’t provide a warranty, but you expect the retailer to? Dude….

So when did it happen and you just waited to report it? Like within 90 days? Or 10 months?
