Had tons on the old Taco's.... new Tundra is pretty stock
green fluid = Antifreeze. You've got a leak in your cooling system somewhere....
And CVs look great. No angle issues there.

I'm looking through my Haynes manual and i'm not sure where it could be coming from, I opened my radiator cap and the fluid inside is red, full right to the cap. Any advice is appreciated.

EDIT: i'm retarded when it comes to engines. :(

Better leaking coolant outside the engine than inside. My coolant is red, but I'm a 2nd gen, not sure when Toy switched to that.

I know everyone said antifreeze, but don't some of the 1st gens have the pink/orange coolant?

Maybe someone filled it with the green coolant at some point. I agree it looks like antifreeze but.......

look under hood at cooling line there are 2 of them that are metal with a threaded cap on both. the seal on the cap may have broken or lower radiator hose may be cracked.

    Thought our antifreeze was red...

Might be a signal to bigger problems than just a leak.

Be advised that the transmission cooler is integrated into the radiator and if it corrodes there could be a pinhole leak that causes a nice strawberry milkshake in the transmission.

I just checked Mitchell On Demand.com and according to the section on fluids for a 2001 Tacoma it should have Toyota Long-Life coolant which is pink/red in color. So it might be something else. I like the A/C idea, but the dye from that is usually a neon green color.

My vote goes for CV boot grease.

In the radiator, rust may give it a reddish hue, even if the coolant is green.

From the leak, get a little on your fingers. Does it feel watery? Does it rinse off easily with a tiny bit of water? That would indicate anti-freeze. Smell it. Dip your finger into the radiator and smell that. Smell the same? Probably anti-freeze.

In the pic, I see what looks like rain drops of the stuff all over. that's also suggestive of coolant leak. First place I'd look is water pump/water pump gasket. Then hoses. Then hose fittings.

If, on the other hand, you find it's greasy on your fingers, and doesn't rinse off easily, then I'd tend to think CV grease. In that case, I'd give a close inspection to those CV boots and find if one of em's cracked.

The coolant is the long life red/pink stuff. This is one of te few instances where I only use the Toyota stuff.

Reading a few Popular Mechanics articles the different metals throughout the cooling system require certain corrosion inhibitors. If they aren't there it will cause corrosion in the cooling system. Head gaskets, water pumps, radiators and the hoses. I would check to see if the coolant is green and if so I'd really start worrying, could be your water pump! I'd be more concerned about my transmission cooler and head gaskets if I were you!
