My wife and I are visiting Olympic National Park this summer and I was wondering what the attitude is toward open carry in Washington. WA doesn't have a reciprocity agreement with CA and the out of state procedure isn't feasible since it would require one or more in person visits to complete.

I know OC is permitted by law other then in some areas or circumstances, but I have no idea how it's viewed by those who live there or if it just isn't a common practice. I won't be visiting any metropolitan cities, just the park.

Any tips would be appreciated as I don't want to be rude while visiting another state nor do I want any problems with law enforcement.

I am pretty sure that firearms are allowed in the national parks, but not in the buildings. The real question here is about Washington state's rules.

As I understand it, national parks have to follow whatever laws are in place for the state; IE open carry, permit concealed carry, constitutional carry.

National Parks are subject to the same restrictions as the state in which it lies. The buildings are Federal buildings and carry, concealed or open, is not allowed inside them regardless of whether you have a permit or not. You can open carry in the park if you want and in the rest of the state. Depending on where you are people may or may not notice and care but it's not illegal. There might also be time to get a Utah non-resident permit which are recognized in Washington.

Thank you. I’ll check into Utah as I would prefer to carry concealed.
