For my Alpine, you have to do parking brake cycles with the break on in order for it play DVDs. I bought this module off of ebay that memicks the cycles. Can't remember what it is called at the moment, but wiring the module was easier than doing it the way Alpine wanted me to wire it.

You can paint your nails, while talking on the phone while smoking and eating a cheeseburger but if you have a tv up front, you will get pulled over.

    Stupid laws.

Actually, talking on the cell phone is illegal too without a hands-free kit. The penalty doesn't have much teeth though.

In NY you cant talk on the phone..

Just another law to create revenue in the guise of "safety".

I wouldn't say it's just in the guise of safety.

    http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/DrivingIssues/20060830105036.html

I've had many close calls with drivers yacking on the cell phone. When I see someone driving erratically, 9 times out of 10, they've got a cell phone stuck to their head.

I know it affects my concentration, so I usually don't answer mine.

Illegal in CA but not in most of the US.

Not to mention the recent studies equating the driving ability imparment caused texting/phone conversations to equivalent DUI imparements...and the age old studies comparing DUI to sleep deprivation, eating at the wheel, emotional upset, drug use, and anything else.

I would be hard pressed to called it a guise of safety- It might not be as heavily enforced as it could be....but what law is??

that study fails to mention age of drivers.
and statistics today can be manipulated to make anything seem possible.

New York has to many laws as is. And in my opinion relies on such laws as a form of revenue to compensate for the loss of tax revenue for the people who are leaving NY state in flocks because of taxes.

The study doesn't fail to mention it. The reporter didn't report it. You can search on the quoted study. Here's the scientist who did the study with a bunch of different studies (e.g. comparing talking with a passenger to talking on a cell phone):

Probably not going to happen- Being the questionably legality and danger that exists in doing this mod- Probably not going to get a ton of support for it.

    Just my guess tho...

Just installed it and to my dissapointment grounding the wire did not work. I dont feel like spending 30 extra dollars on a bypass can someone explain to me how to connect it to the barking brake wire? I found the parking brake wire I just dont know how to splice them together.

Different units need different hardwire bypass procedures I believe.

I installed the new Pioneer AVIC X-910bt last night and I had to do more of a song and dance than just ground out that wire. I had to switch a mute wire and repin the harness and ground out that wire too. Companies are making it a little harder but not impossible.

PS: THe verdict is that mine works

How do you bypass the speed sensor connection? I've grounded the wire by then got caught by the speed sensor....

    Thanks!

Sorry about bringing up an old thread, but has anyone done this on a 14 stock head unit?
