Other mods-full synthetic, carbon filter, de-badged, center console lock.
Are you sure the water didn't cause something to go out? I find it hard to believe also that 8" puddle was able to make it's way into the engine.

^^ I do have the TRD CAI but the fender liner being half gone was the biggest factor I think.

A small handful of select mods.
I am curious were both fender liners cut back like that? Why would only the one side be? Especially the intake side. If both are I am wondering if the truck had an off road bumper on it before it was traded in.

Also TRD claims that their parts are authorized by Toyota and will not void warranties. That dealership is a piece of crap if they will not honor the deal that TRD has with Toyota.

Sucks no matter what. I am very glad now to have installed the snorkel for reason such as this.

Well as far as I know the truck was involved in a front end collision prior to me buying it but the damage was minor. But I'm thinking maybe the body shop cut them out for whatever reason and slapped a new bumper cover on.

Yes put the stock intake in ....Same thing happened to me with URD intake . Dealer said it was due to aftermarket intake and denied the claim. I bought a used block and put it in. I went thru my insurance.

Well now the truck is at the insurance inspection facility with the TRD intake still on. Plus the stock intake is bone dry inside and has dust in it lol. Just gonna have to wait and see.

Yup. I mean how hard is it to really replace those things. They're just held in with plastic rivits. And I'm sure they don't cost that much.

If Toyota dosent fix it, I think you should hold the body shop liable, since they didn't fix it right.

    Yeay...

Curious to see if anyone owns up to this or if running through big puddles is the owners responsibility.

I hate to be the troll ass, but I can see everyone pointing back to you on this. While there were a lot of failures, the body shop not fixing it correctly, the original owner accepting the body shops work as complete, the car lot accepting it without inspection, but I would presume there was a "AS-IS" statement on the paperwork. If so, then you accepted liability for the truck as-is. If your insurance does end up covering it, you should give the guy a hummer since he is bending over backwards for you.

    good luck man.

Ya there are a lot of factors involved. But I know the dealer did a pre-delivery inspection on the vehicle and they have the inspection report on file. But if that wasn't noted then I guess it's my word against theirs. In any event tho, I'm still glad I have insurance. But isn't every car sold "as is" unless otherwise noted on the due bill? I would think that buying a vehicle from a toyota dealership that has gone through their 106 (or whatever it is) point inspection and sold as certified wouldn't have any issues. Only time will tell with this situation.

OP you are correct most used vehicles sold "as-is", but they have to have that stated in the documentation. As for certified used cars/trucks, if they put a warranty on it, they have to cover stuff unless they exclude a portion. As to the inspection report, that really provides no coverage, since you are correct that they will say either you did the modification, or that you accepted the truck with the modification. Either way, I will be interested as to how the insurance handles this. Keep us up-to date.
