Way To Access Hour Meter with Scan Tool?

    I assume that the ECU in the 05-15 Tacomas has an engine hour meter. Is there a way to access this with or without a scan tool?

    I know there’s an hour meter since cleared codes... not sure about a total hour time. Let me check my cheap little $15 scanner

    I don’t think there is. I’ve only seen Hobbs meters come on gm products.

    It runs off of something called a drive cycle. Different cars have different drive cycles. Most generic one is drive it for 100 miles. Idling won’t work.

    Yeah, I've been doing more idling lately, which I've never really done in this truck before now. Just curious if there was an hour meter that was accessible through plugging something into the OBD port, or through other trickery, through the instrument panel.

    I know they make Hobbs meters for dirt bikes and 4 wheelers that are aftermarket. They might make an aftermarket one for cars...
