I just picked up my long sought after R pod camper with the 2016 Taco with the tow package. The TT I got is very light weight base 2700 lbs. I drove down I75 400 miles with no sway noted, towed great. I might add this is the first time I have ever towed anything so kept it between 60 - 65 mph all the way to everyone elses dismay. Now I am wondering if I should add a WDH and if so any recommendations for one that is not overkill and budget breaking?? Any info much appreciated.

Doesn’t sound like you need one. Won’t hurt to get a WDH though if you want. Regarding your speed while towing keep in mind most trailer tires are rated for a max speed of 65mph. Exceeding that speed can be dangerous. Heat buildup from speeds in excess of 65mph can cause catastrophic tire failure (blow out). So if you tow at higher speeds be sure your trailer tires are rated for higher speeds.

What model did you get? I have the 190, 3150lbs dry weight as equipped and I tow with my 2013 6M. I use a WDH that I find helps and it has built in sway control. Through the mountain highways with passing semis, pulls pretty nice with no sway. Ive not hauled it without the WDH attached.

I have the 177 model. Which WDH did you use as I need something that is not super heavy and easy to install? I will probably get one for longer trips with more weight. That was what the service guy at the dealership recommended. He told me to drive and see how it felt. I came through the mountains into TN from Ohio and never felt it moving behind the truck. It was not loaded though nor was the truck. My long term goal is to get out West for some hiking so will probably add to be safe. I am a very conservative driver and usually drive 60-65 especially with this trailer behind me.

I have the Fastway E2 Trunion. It's pretty beefy, rated for tongue weight of 600 lbs My dry tongue weight is around 340 so I was thinking the lower model rated for 400 was probably cutting it too close. The dealer recommended this one.

I tow around 3500 and use the Equilizer 6000 lbs rated hitch. You can tow without a WD but it just makes the tow more comfortable and for really bad conditions it gives you peace of mind.
