How hard is it on 4WD to turn it on an off? Like to take a straight gently curving road in slightly harsh conditions then turn it off to take a 90 degree corner at a stop to reduce driveline stress. Then turn it back on again? Just a general question.....

If it's really bad out, I don't even take it out to make 90 degree turns. As long as the tires can spin easily, you're not adding stress to the driveline. As far as your original question, there are actuators that, like any other part, the more you use them, the sooner the'll wear out but unless you're doing this several times a day every day of the week I wouldn't worry about it.
