All I remember is one night he was going back and forth, politely, with someone arguing about RTT vs the GFC RTT and his opinion on why the GFC RTT was better. Then, the next morning, all of those posts are gone and doording vanished.

This thread was deleted too, but assigned to a new OP to keep it alive (mainly the info posted herein).

So if anybody wants to add anything to the OP, tag me and I’ll add it.

If anybody else wants to take reigns of the thread, that’s fine too. Just PM me and let me know.

He left and had his footprint erased..? I mean he’s not tagable, his posts are gone and he’s not on the banned members thread. He quit.

Why he went scorched earth, dunno, he could have just clicked ‘log off’ and had the self constraint to not come back on, leaving his posts for us, but he didn’t. He had them deleted..

Mods had to change OP on this post and others to keep them alive or they’d be gone in the blackhole of the interwebz. Be thankful the mods resurrected and other members took ownership of his thread for the benefit of TW. Doording quit.

You are right on a couple of things...the three people I have known with Habitats have had some issues, but rave about the support they have received.. And, the tent materiel is the same, but there is an aluminum top on mine when deployed, and a LOT less tent to worry about.

Anyway...they are all great products, and to each their own. Thanks for the well wishes

Super interested to see one when they’re out. Can I ask what you paid? Not to be personal or anything just out of curiosity. Seems like these “wedges” are running from 6k to close to 10k all trimmed out. Just wondering where the Summit falls.

No judgement from me. Your money spend it on what makes you happy!!! I’ll admit though. That’s a bit more than i was anticipating. Now i really wanna see it

For me, it started in 2006 when I bought a Scout with a soft top. I wanted to build a pop-up wedge, but didn't have the time, tools, or resources. Or a "Renaissance Man" like @Iggy as a friend. So I threw a 4WC on it. That's too far back for this thread though...

    Here's where it sparked:

Then a while later... in December of 2016. We started working on this months before that though to come up with the design.

My flatbed camper started shortly thereafter, and now resides on Jon Burtt 's truck.

@MTNHABITOVERLAND owns this sweet camper now.

We are geeks about this stuff and analyzed every dimension, angle, piece of hardware, attachment point, and function, then camped and wheeled in our V1's. And continued to do it the whole time we owned them since the intent was always to bring the campers to market. Either through us, or a separate manufacturer. So we had to correct the nuances others might not notice. We definitely did though.

Then we poured that experience into the Drifter and did it all over again. You may notice that our current lid is shorter and the lower roof is taller. A little different from our V1's and the other wedge offerings. Subtle changes make a significant difference when it comes to functionality.

We are extremely stoked for the campers, our customers, the company, and the TW community that supported us along the way. It all started here.

Aweome answer man thank you! Even though I’m a GFC guy I LOVE following along with the Vagabond build out thread you guys are doing amazing things...

I’m really curious though whose gonna be first to adapt one of these to a Jeep Wrangler (like the Ursa Minor). Not sure how it would adapt, but man, there’s an awful lot of Jeepers out there... just saying.

Thanks for jumping in and making such a great product.

    Check out the build
The biggest reason we haven’t done something like the Ursa Minor is fitment. Those tops are molded and formed so they fit perfect and in turn have great sealing. In this platform we would want to make sure the fitment and sealing is perfect. The last thing we want is make a product that leaks into the main compartment of the vehicle.

We’re also slammed with Drifter orders! Rather than focusing on new projects we are committed to serving our current customers; focusing on cutting lead times and keeping communication.

There are a few cool projects on the computer and sketches around the shop, but we will get to those when we that the time is appropriate.
