Will I have any problems with a 600 lb load in the bed. DCSB stock with shell and probably 700 lbs in the passenger compartment? Going about 25 miles on highway. Can make 2 trips if necessary to avoid damage to truck. Thanks.

You'll be fine. On my last move I had an 1100 pound difference between empty and loaded. I recommend securing and centering the load as much as possible and maybe just a bit forward of the rear axle.

Why not get a trailer and tow all the weight?

Thanks. Load will fit between the wheel wells and fill the bed.

Cheaper to make two trips than rent or buy a trailer. Thanks

What is in the passenger compartment. I'm operating under the assumption that it is just people. If not, what would it be?

You're still good with that weight, but if you ever do have to move something larger, Uhaul actually has surprisingly low rates for trailers. 1 day with a 6x12 was $30 last year. A lot cheaper for their smaller trailers. Note that you would need an adapter for uhaul's trailer light connector-they use a 4 pin plug.

Payload on my truck is 1200 lbs. You'll technically be overloaded assuming yours is the same as mine, but for an occasional short trip I'd probably do it. Not something I'd do on a regular basis or on a long trip.

I hauled about 1200 lbs of rock in the back of a 1995 Nissan Hardbody 4 cyl for about 10 miles. No issues, but I drove slow.

I've had mine overloaded a few times. When the sweetie wants landscaping rocks, you get them for her. She don't care what the truck thinks! My truck hated it, by the way. ;)

I had a 1100lb quad in the bed of my truck, while pulling a 4500 pound trailer (after load) for the fire department... Needless to say I was quite happy when the recall letter for my Springs showed up a day later.

Edit: I only went about 2 miles and I didn't hit above 15 mph before I unloaded the trailer at the fire house.

Yeah I had a bed full of firewood (read: overloaded) pre- leaf spring recall that made for an interesting ride. Especially around turns. Made it just fine though. too bad the new recall leaves are only marginally better.

True, but at least my shackle isn't busted open anymore. Though I am surprised that the dealership didn't question it.

Thanks everyone. Everything went smooth and no broken parts, people, cargo or truck.

Nissan not a Tacoma. My 2004 Sportrac handled heavy loads much better than Tacoma. Ex filled the bed with rock once and it barely squatted.

I'm not brand loyal, bro. My point is, if a 4 banger 95 nissan can haul 1200 lbs his V6 will be fine.

I was more concerned about the suspension rather than the engine being capable.

700 lbs in the bed (cab empty) of my 11 TRD OR with the pre-TSB 3 leaf springs set me down right on the bump stops. The 4 leaf TSB springs handle 500 lbs in the bed and I'm sure it will take more but I haven't pushed it. But 1,300 lbs total between the cab and bed? I don't know about that. The 2011 OR model was only half ton truck in the advertisements. Hopefully the 15 is better.

Edit - Just read post #14. Glad it worked.
