I actually really like the idea of the puzzle weights, though the cost is too much.

They are cleaner. Would be nice in the wives trunk if she had rear wheel drive or AWD.

I have 4 tubes of sand I put in the back of my truck over the rear axel. I think I picked mine up at Home Depot.

We just had our first snowfall where I live, and I was very happy with how my '18 TRD OR performed in snow and ice. No slippage, no sliding, traction was great. I stayed in 4 hi until the roads cleared up. I'm running Wildpeak AT3s and I have a short bed, so that might make a bit of a difference from how your truck handles snow, but otherwise I felt secure.

I've got my old leaf packs hanging out in the bed, don't think they help much though lol
Sure make a lot of noise when I turn though! Need to offload them or shove them in the garage now that I'll actually have one soon.

I should say that I only began adding the weight to my bed to be a counter weight to my snow plow. I have run several years without any weight in the back other than the Extang TriFold cover which is really nothing.

Here's what I did for weight in the bed.

I've no use for sand, so six 40# bags of softener salt do the trick. Made the box out of 2x6s:

I found after I replaced the Wrangler Kevlar's with the Wrangler Duratracs, was all that I needed. No weight in the back.

Those Kevlar's are junk in the snow/ice

Just stellar. The press and seal is easy and fast. The only negative is that the third tensioning bow is a touch long, so it forces the rails apart slightly. It really hurts nothing, just could be a bit shorter.

Thanks for the info. I was on the fence between the Lund or the Extang Trifecta.

Roll up all day long for me.

Also, with a small mod, I can slide off the rolled up cover while leaving all the rails in place.

Yeah I know. I had a TruXedo Lo Pro on my '16 SR5. You could take the rolled up tarp off just by sliding 2 clips.

This one, I trimmed back a leg on one of the plastic corner pieces. Then, just pulling one of the clamp bolts, the front rail can be flexed up and the cover slid out.

If you go with the Lund, lemme know and I will get you a pic.

If I keep looking at the black '16 SR5 I traded off 10 months ago I'll be buying another Lo Pro. LOL!

    No problem.

More flush would be nice, but the press and seal is a big deal for me.

I was thinking the same question, then someone put it to me this way.
"If you rip off you're rear bumper, you can still drive home... what do you're skids protect that will make it hard to drive home when you break them..."

Driveshafts on these trucks for example are very thin, a member here broke one not too long ago on some rocks, it's even filled with cardboard!
