So, for the last few weeks I've noticed an odd noise that comes from the engine area. It's been intermittent but sounds like a rattle/knock similar to a diesel. It's only done it a few times but it makes me concerned. I run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic and Toyota has all the maintenance records from first owner. I have yet to take it in to the dealership with my busy schedule and I'm afraid I'm going to get the " it's normal " excuse. I don't recall my last Tacoma making this noise but then again that was a few years ago.

Sounds like a ping from low octane.

Try a higher Octane rated gasoline like 89 or 92.

I tried 92 octane and still can hear the noise. Maybe it's the TSB?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
With the engine idling check the serpentine belt is running smoothly. Maybe belt idler pulley(s) are going south.

Are you still under warranty? Just take it to Gatorland. Couple buddies of mine work over there.
