Weird vibration rattle/noise in 07 4.0 M6

07 4.0L M6 AC 80k miles.

Had the frame sprayed by toyota and ever since I would hear a random hallow sounding thud going around a sharp slow corner. Didn't happen much and it was so deep/low that I paid no attention.

Fast forward 2-3 months. If i really LUG the truck, 1300-1500rpm with a load on the motor there is a very noticeable sound. I can only describe it as an exhaust rattle but on plastic, not metallic.

It's cold here in NJ and I crawled under the truck and quickly pushed/pulled on the exhaust and checked heat shields etc for anything out of the ordinary. All looks good. I pulled on the bed to make sure it was secure and it appeared to be (rocked the truck around and there was no play).

Is there any common things that come loose under there? I can not 100% pin point where it is coming from but it sound like the passenger side floor board.

I am experiencing a similar noise when turning and acceleration (usually under load like going up a hill) it sounds as if it is coming from the passenger side. Was wondering if you found a solution?

 

Someone on the Tacoma Facebook page helped me. My airbox that is mounted to the fender well was loose.

I think there was a TSB about the air intake on the passenger fender. I had mine replaced when it was under warranty because of a vibration noise it was making. You may be able to loosen up and reposition or add cushion to that area.
