Hey! I am born and raised 70 yrs "Midwest" I never heard of that either. Did you happen to read/notice where he is driving the truck from/to? NH and Vermont ? Last time I checked that AIN'T the "Midwest"!

Interesting --learn something new today here. Light out usually means "probable cause" for a cop to pull you over!

They have their goofy sayings up there in the NE too. Some of the sayings from the Midwest sometimes sound foreign to me, I thought padoodle would naturally be spoken with a Midwestern accent.

Never seen a repair order for a padoodle.

Unfortunately the hesitations or stutters OP describes are present on some trucks but of course not all. I guarantee he's not imagining things, and giving it gas is only going to result in temporary relief. How do I know? I had stutters since new, but at ~1500 with light/moderate load.
Fast forward to 1.03B/C 91 Octane release of OVtune. My symptoms changed, ~2500 same as OP's. I worked with the vendor directly, testing out new calibrations. BAM, he nailed it. Turns out my truck couldn't decide if it wanted to be in Atkinson mode or not under certain conditions. Meanwhile, other tuned trucks never had these problems and SOME ppl thought I was just whining or imagining things. Just like what's starting to happen in this thread.
I of course can't say that OP doesn't have another issue causing the hesitations he describes. It sounds very familiar though, and unfortunately if the dealer says "normal", a ~$800 tune may be the only option. The good news is OVtune does much more than cure this!

It's actually pretty crazy that this still happens on brand-new trucks, since we're almost into the fourth model year. I guess Toyota is not seeing enough complaints to address the issue, at least on the M/T side of the house. Granted, we are a much smaller segment of the market. For those that are wondering, there are NO TSBs (to address driveability problems) that involve a flash update for M/T trucks.

Some 3rd gen trucks stutter, most don't. You guys are part of the lucky crowd.

    Notice I own a 3rd gen lol

My truck does it too, you have the best possible description of it feeling like it can't decide if it wants to switch to Atkinson or not.

OP - there has not been a record of issues with headlamps burning out prematurely on this board, and "we" complain about EVERYTHING here. The stutter is definitely on record however. The cure is the OV Tune. While some folks complain about tuning a new vehicle, I personally tune or code every vehicle i drive or ride. It's just like any other modification IMHO - it is about personalizing the vehicle to your unique needs and desires.

@Hobbs are you the Hobbs from the old LCML days?

I don't think so. But I may be connected via Ih8mud. I signed on over there as Hobbs in 2005.
I was on a Cruiser mailing list back in the 90's, but I don't remember what it was called... And I wouldn't have used Hobbs as a handle back then.

The ‘07 has a completely different engine. Of course it is going to have different drive qualities.

Before making a painful trip to the stealer, I would check and make sure that the air intake hose clamps are good & tight.

Simply lift the plastic engine cover to gain access to the inner clamp. Also while there, I would spray TOYOTA approved map sensor cleaner, just in case there’s some left over assembly particles.

The truck should and does run just fine when all parts are assembled and working as they should.

Moreover, there is no headlight issues that I’m aware of at this time on the 3rd gen.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!
