As Monkeysuncle said in an earlier post the FAB will be hardest part of it. Fabbing plate steel is not the easiet thing to do if you don't have the tools to do it. I have a little Lincoln 110 MIG welder(argon for gas) that I use for small projects like body work and making bumpers for my buggy and I have more trouble fabbing my parts than I do welding them together. I learned by using scrap metal and writing down the welder settings for the gauge metal I was using. I still got a lot of learning to do.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
Why not get a custom bumper from a shop in your area?

I've thought about that too, but I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty expensive too. One fab guy told me I might be looking at close to $2K.

    She's gone but not forgotten.
It don't matter a bit if you take a welding class and end up making the bumper you desire or not.

Welding class is education. And there is no way education can hurt.

It's an investment in future life. Get a job doing something else, get laid off, you got welding to fall back on. Your neighbor cracks some metal piece of his truck, you got the skills to make a few bucks fixing it. One day you're bored with TV and start to daydreaming...get to thinking "wish I had a XXX". You got the skills to build it.

Do it. You'll be glad you did in the long run.
