If memory serves correctly you can actually beat the minimum score if you are in an older age bracket. How it is done is this: (please not this is not exact, but simply an estimation to show how to get a 331 out of a 300) Average recruit of age 19 is required to do 20 pull ups in 3 minutes, 80 situps in 3 minutes, and run 3 miles in 26 minutes to achieve a perfect score of 300. As you increase into another age bracket, your MINIMUM requirements decrease. Let's say at age 45 you have to only do 15 pullups, 50 situps, and 3 miles in 30 minutes to achieve a perfect score of 300, BUT this person did 20/80/26 equal to a 19 year old perfect score. This allows him to reach a score of "331". That is what was going on when I was looking at reenlisting about 7 years ago. The perfect score for my age was 300, and I got a 305.
