Google. Give yourself a thesis and go for it. Effect on fishing? Habitat? Is greater/less than feared? Short term and long term effects? Effect on oil industry? I even saw a link on spiritual effects...enough for 20-30 pages easy.

Lets not start blaming any one...Guy needed some ideas for a paper-If your ideas are going to lean to the political-Take it to PMs please.

And 5 paragraphs...I could put that out on any number of topics IRT to oil spill.

Bro, no need to turn this into a political mess of a thread, keep it to yourself. thanks.

I would say that you should try to find out as much facts as possible, and don't turn your paper into something political.
We still don't know enough about the long term effects of this, still reports of a lot of oil underneath, but we don' know for sure. So I guess the best thing you can do is focus on the short term effects and what is happening now.

P1: Intro: The oil spill leaked x gallons, costed tax payers x etc. BUT there are other impacts not so quickly assocaited with the spill... allude to P2 and P3.

P2: Affects to Family businesses, 4th generation fishers etc.
P3: Affects to Tourism and other business, relate this a little to P2.
P4: List a couple best and worst case scenarios for P2 and P3.
P5: Restate P1 and P2, and offer a pessimistic OR optimistic view for their future.

The 5 paragraph format actually makes this assignment more difficult. Focus on a couple very specific aspects and beat the shit out of them. A good rule of thumb is to always do the intro last, it's usually the single paragraph that haults all progress and it's the paragraph that sets up what your paper is all about; write the paper first to see what it is all about, then write the intro.

    Good luck.

    a lot lol
Haha no I just started college. This is my first Eng.101 paper, it's a cause and effect. We either picked the cause of the spill or the effect. And he said he wants 5 fully developed paragraphs. Nothing more, nothing less. If I could write a 10 page paper it would be easier because I could cover more info.

We had the same crap in college, short essays to prove a point. It's a lot harder to write something short and complete vs if you're given as much time and space as you need. My advice, pick something specific and limit yourself to it like the wildlife impact, economic impact but limit it (BP's side, local towns, etc). Good luck!
