That's a pretty non specific third hand complaint. No one else seems to have had a problem so far. I have no idea what what the reviewer means by "caused an ECU circuit to blow." Which doesn't sound like a "quick fix" or cheap one to me. If there was a problem, the reviewer should have contacted DonGar for a refund/replacement and reimbursement if there was cost for the repair.

I copied this from the DonGar FB page. I hope Kevin doesn't mind. He explains what the problem was.

7837F187-DCDC-4CFA-AFE4-58BA74000894.jpg I had the first version of the DonGar adapter for a dash cam in my Tundra. It would cut out after a few mins of use, but never blew a fuse or anything. When I decided to put a dash cam in the Tacoma, I contacted DonGar to confirm that I had the old version before buying another. I figured I did, but wanted to make sure that was the problem. Kevin replied and sent me one of the new versions free of charge, since my first one didn’t work. He even included a short USB cord. He took the time to respond and answer my questions. Excellent customer service.

Got the new adapter today and already got it installed, along with my new Garmin Mini. :D

Definitely have to put a call to Crutchfield on the list for Monday. I finally figured out that most of the bad reviews on Amazon were actually for other Garmin dash cams. I don't know why Amazon mixes them all in, but you have to make sure that you are reading a review for the product you're interested in and not another model.

Should be a snap to install once I get it.

Is it better to get a regular short mini USB adapter or one with a right angle if using with a Garmen Mini? Kevin is sold out on his site for the adapter so have to go through Amazon hence buying cable separately.

I bought a right angle cable, but only for aesthetics, not function. Yes, I was worried about appearances for something tucked behind the mirror. ;)

You need to provide more info...
    Did it EVER work?
What is providing power to it in the truck?
Have you tried bringing it inside and powering it using a phone charger?

I would stay away from that adapter there Is a review on Amazon of a guy with a 2020 that fried a circuit bored installing one of those .better and safer just to run the wire around and plug it In. But if u guys want to take a chance on it .knock your self out it’s your truck . Just my two cents . Amazon sells a lot of Chinese garbage.

This is a second generation version that fixed those previous issues.

Unsubstantiated that he fried his ecu. From what I heard he just replaced a fuse, not an ecu! Big difference.
The guy that sells these stands behind his product.
He has fixed the problem with the newer unit.

My dash cam input says 5V 1A. Will that adapter work with it?

It's powered by the Dongar 12 pin.
It worked great when I paired it to the app.
First drive it flashes red. Open app and it shows connected and flashes blue. Close app and back to flashing red. Open app and it's trying to connect to WiFi.
