Just bought all the supplies off of Amazon for $130. Can’t wait to get it installed when it’s here.

Unless I'm crazy, his yellow/red wires go to the wrong fuses. Yellow should be ACC which should go to p outlet 1, red should be BAT and go to HAZ. Am i wrong?

UPDATE: I'm an idiot. the video is correct. ignore me.

So anyone figure out how to avoid having the video shot on the Garmin mini save as tiny clips?

Has anyone on here who uses the usb dongle successfully powered two garmin minis (or any other cams) by using the 1 to 2 usb splitter? Not sure if the dingle, or the circuit that the mirror is on, would have issues with that amperage draw (I’m sure it’s low, but idk enough about that to know).

pretty sure its an issue with my sd card, but anyone have problems viewing videos after the fact? i saw a mattress fly out of a truck on the highway the other day, luckily no one crashed that i saw, but when i got home and tried to view the video, it was all corrupted. like 5 min before and after the incident. other clips from the same day are viewable, old saved clips from months ago are fine, just that 10 min or so period across like 3 of the video files.

also, the app for the garmin mini is trash. always quits working when connecting to my cam

Does the app completely crash or does it just lose connection to the camera? My camera wouldn’t stay connected to app and I had to plug into a laptop to update the firmware. Kind of a hassle, but it works better now. Just thought I would mention that, just in case that was the issue with the app. Not sure about the corrupted video files though. I haven’t ran into that.

The app only crashes when trying to connect to the camera. I can open it and browse settings in stuff at my house, but when I'm in my truck and the cam is powered on and tries to connect to the app it crashes. I have to pull the SD card and put it in my computer to pull videos. I've had luck uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but that only connects the first time then goes back to crashing

Yeah, that’s weird. My app would rarely crash, but wouldn’t connect to the camera long enough to do anything. If you haven’t already, double check to make sure the app is up to date and update the camera as well. Maybe someone else has run into that and will chime in. I don’t know how good Garmin’s tech support is, but they may be able to help troubleshoot it.

How do you swap out the ball mount? Mine came with an extra one.

When I bought mine from Amazon late last summer I also bought the right angle usb cable and an SD card brand I had not heard of (Micro Center). The dashcam worked fine for about a month or two then constantly flashed the indicator lights stating it could not connect to the mobile app, could not connect to the desktop app, etc. Really frustrating. I uninstalled and reinstalled both apps multiple times. Ended up buying a SanDisk Ultra sd card and haven't noticed those connectivity issues since. To be fair I'm not exactly driving much these days while working from home so I probably need to go out there and try pulling some recent captures to check.

I sent Dongar Tech an email asking when their product would be available again on Amazon, and then I checked Amazon again and it was available for purchase!

I've been back and forth watching this thread for the past week. FYI the adapter is currently available to buy on Amazon as its saying they should be in stock within the week!

Anybody know what is going on with these adapters? Amazon shows them OOS and no in stock date showing. I sent an email to Dongar last week and haven't heard anything. Sure would like to get one of these.

I was checking every day for weeks, even pinned a shortcut to my home screen on my phone. Thankfully I got lucky this morning. Seems like they pop back up in small batches

I messaged the guy who makes them a while back. He said it “should” work fine with a splitter, but really just depends on how much of a draw the dash cams require.

I ended up just installing a dual usb outlet to the left of my steering wheel and powering them both from that.
