I was looking at where that sensor is on the back of the mirror too. That is why I will probably just go with a Garmin mini like the OP did. Can anyone confirm if it obscures the sensor enough to make any difference?

I just ordered one to pick up in the morning. I'll report back soon. Should be a nice upgrade from my cam that was $5 like 4 years ago.

Sounds great. They are out of stock here until Feb 28. Really only need a very basic dash cam and the Garmin seems small enough that it should be just right to tuck away nicely.

Anyone using the snap on polarizing lens cover?

There is tons of room to clear the light sensor. Plus, there are multiple places you could mount the cam and still have it out of the way of the light sensor and mostly hidden behind the mirror. It's a very dark, cloudy, rainy day right now, and the mirror is still on full daytime mode like it should be. :)

Here's another pic to help gauge the size and placement of the Garmin Mini Cam.

I mounted my Garmin mini on the passenger side of the mirror post. 13' of wire is just a tad too much so I ordered a 6" power cable off Amazon. I am also interested in the polarizer filter. Anyone using the one shown above?

I ordered the filter lens the other day. I'll report back when I get it next week.

Has anyone experienced overheating issues with the simpleUSB adaptor? I'm running a cheap cam - TOGUARD mini - that had been working fine for about two weeks. Today the adaptor got screaming hot, and meted through the wire wrap. Cam won't turn on now. I appreciate any feedback.

Does the camera turn on using a different power cable?

Sounds like your setup won’t do parking mode if the power is switched.

Can’t the cam be connected to the map light power?

Has anyone used the Power Magic EZ from Blackvue? It's the one that pulls power directly from the OBDII port and monitors battery level in park mode. I have one on the way along with a 750s 2 channel. Probably should have asked before I bought it but whatever.

Anyone find a good compact, good looking, dual facing mini dash cam to use with this adapter?

Garmin sells a parking mode module for their cams, but I only want mine to be on when the key is on, so the Amazon mirror adaptor is perfect for my needs.

I received it a couple days ago, but haven't driven the truck yet. I'll try it out and hopefully report back Sunday evening.

Anyone know where I could get a similar usb connector type deal to plug into the rearview mirror? The ones in this thread seem to be sold out with no estimate on restock.
