And while the rest of the deets need not be shared, I figured I would say that October 31st is the deadline just in case anyone drags their feet to getting around to it.

Now to decide on top plates or not. Anyone going TIG weld with black coating or just go MIG if not going clear coat?

I am getting top plates, the wife is having issues getting into the rig so this is one of the main reasons for the change in sliders.

I went TIG with black coating and top plates, following the buy once, cry once principal.

    20 degree?

    I think I'm going:

Black powdercoat, 20 degree, tig....still don't know on the top plates. Is seems like 20 degree is still good for steps from what I've seen. Just need to decide if I like the look of the plates. Since the plates just also seem to be at 20 degrees vs parallel to the ground I guess they're more for protector from flying rocks?

I'm going 0 degree. One of the reasons I wanted Westcott is that I think the top plates look better than others. I'm not sure about hte extra protection the plates provide, but it was easier for me to tell my wife that I was buying new steps for her to get into the truck easier than for offroad protection.

I did not spend a bunch on my first set, they were from someone else and they are welded on...will have fun getting them off.
My wife hurt her shoulder about a year ago, ever since then it has been hell on her getting in the truck. I looked at most of the ones online to see what they had along with their designs but the westcott ones won out while looking. I also did 0 degree with top plates.

    Ended up going with;

    Black powdercoat
    No plates
    20 degree
    DOM
    TIG

I was too on the fence for the plates so just decided to not bother and stayed with 20 degrees after seeing this post as it looked useable for steps:

    Westcott Design

Can't wait to eventually get these...then when I do to decide to put them on now (guessing Dec?) or wait till spring.

Cool, I am taking the first week of Dec off to do some things around the house. Would be great if they made it in then as I need to cut my current ones off and prep the new ones for installation.

I have off Christmas - new year, I might install since I don't have to paint them. But if the undercarriage is filthy I'll wait until I can wash it down, recoat the outside other frame w/clean woolwax and install.

I was thinking raw too, but if I l did I know I wouldn't get around to painting until it's warm out again here in Boston. So likely spring and I was just thinking they might rust between now and then...so just ate the the powder coat cost
