Over the phone, without seeing the device, they wont guarantee anything, lower expectations just in case.

    x2 on bag of rice.

    Good Luck!

There’s a sticker inside the iPhone that will tell the dealer it’s been in water before, it changes color I believe. If they see that, all warranty coverage is out the window. 8, 8+, and X are ip67 rated, that’s 1 meter underwater for 30 min rated, including spray resistant and dust resistant. Nothing is technically “waterproof”, that’s why that sticker is there.

If they don’t get you a new phone or fix it, I replace both the screen and battery. Wife’s phone battery swoll as a result of dampness/sitting in a wet pocket. This ruined the screen. That was a few years ago on an iPhone 4 out of warranty. Worked well afterwards. Hope the rice bag works. Good luck.

You’re absolutely right, buttttt..why advertise a product as being resistant to a certain amount of water depth for a certain amount of time. Either way the phone needs fixing. Best case scenario would be they fix it and/or all it needs is a new digitizer which I would pay for.

That’s what the “senior support member” stated. She directed me to take it to the store and see what they say. I mentioned the wate indicator was actived but she was super understanding and I could tell she wanted to say they would take care of me but again, can’t guarantee anything over the phone. She gave me her direct contact info to contact her if any issues arise.

See that tiny little “3” next to it...follow that 3 to the fine print. What does it say?

Interesting. I’ve literally put my X in my yeti when it’s overheated from being in the sun.

Just found one near me, thank you sir. I will try the Apple store first, depending on what they say I may then chose that option.

And I understand that, I know what it says. But do you get the consumer point of view? If your truck is rated to withstand towing 6000lbs, but then it says in laboratory conditions, and then you tow 4000lbs and your drivetrain blows wouldn’t you be a little irritated?

I though iPhones were waterproof :notsure:

My ex dropped her Android in the toilet. We removed the battery, put it in a bag of uncooked rice. It was fine after 2 days.

I dropped my Pixel XL in the ocean last year, no issues.
