I took delivery of mine in early December 16 and have about 8K miles on it. I haven't experienced any of the problems other than a little lack of power until I get it to about 3K RPM's. No big deal. My 911 doesn't really come alive until about 3K RPM's.
Most of the complaints I see on this forum lead me to believe that this truck is either the first car the complainants have owned or is the 1st new car they have ever purchased and expect too much.

Contradicting the comment that they use cheap plastics and that all cars use plastics in the interior, not higher grade materials like mahogany.

Drive your truck and enjoy it man. It's a great truck. I love mine. Remember that most people come to vehicle sub forums because they have a problem with the vehicle. It's not just this place, it's the nature of the beast. My Nissan and VW forums are the same.

It definitely has it's quirks as do most new vehicles and especially during a model year change.

I can't really complain too much about my Tacoma when Ive owned a Canyon as well. That was a steaming pile of shit compared to those Tacoma's that seem to be plagued. The list of issues were so long, serious issues. Like down to the Metallurgy of the block/head and other major flaws. In the end it left me stranded on the freeway @ 1am while I watched it burn down with the brand new wheels I put on it.

If an order, you still have the chance to cancel it, and wait a couple of years more for things to get right. Don't make a big $40K mistake, that you could regret.

Even Consumer Reports calls it one of the worst vehicles on the road:

Yup! That pretty much sums it up for me, and its why I'm in a Taco. 21k miles and counting still totally satisfied with my ride!

But digesting and enjoying a Taco in all this negativity and 3rd Gen hostility is proving to be a challenge

My wifes truck has the auto darkening mirror. I like it I wish mine had one. The thing I hate most about my Tacomas are their payments.

I didn't start the thread. I can find 3 or 4 just like it from others too. It's a common criticism of this truck which is what the OP asked for....

If you want better plastic and materials than a Taco, buy a Lexus or MB.
The Taco offers comparable and most often better materials than its competitors at a better price IMO.

Jeep, Lexus etc. I can post a million. Google it.
    Its not Taco specific.
Every car I have had does this. My Mercedes might not have years ago, don't remember.
You can scratch any car finish with a grain of dirt on a rag.

I don't know you and I don't know what you do and don't like so I have no idea how to answer your question and honestly I don't really care. I would rather be reading a bunch of threads about awesome shit that others are doing to make their trucks more awesome but instead we keep seeing posts like this where people just want to nitpick every little thing apart and complain. Who cares what little thing might upset your little feeling so how about you go get your truck and try and post some things on here that you really like.

There is also no such thing as Military grade Aluminum. Ford's marketing department wants you to think otherwise though.
