The 2015 (2nd gen) had perfect scores. The 3rd gen has pretty marginal scores. You claimed JD Power is influenced financially by GM and I showed you this was a highly questionable theory. I guess I lost track of any other "point" you were trying to establish after that wild claim.

Had a rattle on the dash area on the passenger side which turns out to be a common problem. One dealer tried to fix it three times and i finely took to another dealer that added some type of foam and it solved the problem

My point was that "most" people love the 3rd gen and "most" reviewers also do.

When I took my '03 in for a water pump/timing belt/head gasket replacement they gave me a '17 TRD Pro as a rental.

Aside from the $40,000 price tag it seemed like a nice enough ride. I just figure if I was ever going to drop that much cash on a truck I'd just throw another 10K at it and get the Tundra TRD double cab with a 5.7L.

Then again I only had it for 24 hours and I see plenty of complaints on the third gen here so.....:notsure: who the f*ck knows.

Indeed and if good at negotiating you wouldn't even need that extra 10 g's ... you can still grab trims under limited/plat crewmax's for high 30's :)

#1 don't let the negative post here deter your purchase but learn from the positive feedback that helps us all what to look out for. It's a fkn Toyota and okay the totally redesigned new gen has some issues but you will not find a better midsize pickup that will hold it's value and last as long as a Tacoma period.
    Peace

    6112's and 5160's

...if you look at the JD powers listings you will find some of the 2nd gen models years did get horrible ratings... 2's and 3's...I think the 2008? model did get mostly 4's and another year ( don't recall what one)and the last year being 2015 did do well ( last years so to be honest they should have all the bugs worked out by then )...........................I always take these rating organizations with a grain of salt....JD powers is more consumer based and to be honest I am not convinced it is un-biased at times but I may be wrong.....keep in mind theses are the same organizations that rate Samsung appliances very high....and I can tell you........they ain't.....$100 says the 2018 or 2019 Tacoma's get high marks without little overall change....but again......JMO

I've had a few guys see my truck and say they've heard Toyota is having a lot of issues with the new Tacoma. It does "look good " at least

Time will tell if toyota can get these issues straightened out.. I honestly do feel sorry for the guys that are experiencing problems. When I bought my 2015 or was one of the last 2nd gens.. it was about 50/50 remaining 2nd gens and the first shipment of3rd gens.. I'll admit I looked at them really hard! Ultimately it was the price that kept me away.. I just had this nagging feeling like I should stick with the gen where I knew what i was getting into..

They do look pretty boss though!

Have you given any thought to the A/M shift controller?
